💰 Due to the impact of Tropical Storm Helene, Cabarrus County received an Individual Assistance Declaration from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Homeowners and renters who had uninsured losses or damages due to Tropical Storm Helene are now eligible to apply for FEMA disaster assistance. FEMA recently extended the deadline to apply through January 7, 2025. There are many types of assistance available.

🧠 Cabarrus County will break ground on the highly anticipated Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center on Wednesday, November 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 1000 Progress Place in Concord. The groundbreaking ceremony marks a pivotal milestone in the County’s commitment to improving access to behavioral health services.

📌 Cabarrus County Government offices, including the Cabarrus County Government Center, Human Services Center, Animal Shelter, senior centers, Veterans Services Office, County Landfill and the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will close for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. Cabarrus County parks will close on Thanksgiving Day and will return to normal hours on Friday, November 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All branches of the Cabarrus County Library System will close early on Wednesday, November 27. They will reopen as normal from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 30.
🌱 Need your soil tested? Bring your soil samples to the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District (715 Cabarrus Ave W, Room 301, Concord). Samples are sent off on Friday, November 22. Soil testing helps ensure your land or garden is getting the nutrients it needs to thrive. After November, the NC Department of Agriculture’s Agronomic Division will start charging $4/sample from December 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. Cabarrus Soil and Water is now on Facebook. You can also "Adopt-A-Family", pack a "Senior Care & Share Shoebox" or drop off a gift card to be given to a family in need at Cooperative Christian Ministry's Crisis Center (246 Country Club Dr. NE Concord). The deadline to drop off shoeboxes is December 4 and the deadline to adopt a family is December 16.
