The church, the body of Christ is indeed you— the people. I want to thank our friend, Dr. Larry Payne for sharing a word of hope and encouragement to our community this last week in worship. I would like to thank Mike Linder for helping lead our worship through music this upcoming week. I am humbled and reminded of the movement of God’s grace flowing through you, the church.
Tomorrow, July 4, we celebrate the freedoms we have as Americans. We give thanks for those who serve to protect the freedoms we enjoy and the freedoms of people around the world. We root for our US Women’s Soccer Team representing us in the World Cup final in France this Sunday! I wish you a happy holiday. We have faith in Christ to free those who are in bondage in our home and around the world. May we always remember that true freedom resides in the presence of God’s Spirit.

Peace of Christ to you,
Jake Maxwell

  • Did you know that there are approximately 100 international graduate students at Texas Tech from Iran?
  • Due to the current Iran/USA political situation, the majority of these students will not be able to see their families either here or there for the duration of their study (normally 3-5 years). Some of these students have visited 2b, and have received a very warm welcome.
  • We would like to connect every Iranian student who is interested with an American Friendship Family who would on occasion welcome them into their home and help them adjust to the Lubbock community.
  • Would you be willing to open your heart and home to one or two of these students this fall?
  • For more information, contact Cindy McBrayer at
