Hi Neighbors,

As we celebrate the holidays, it is important to remain safe and vigilant.

During this time of the year, there is an influx of mail and package deliveries. In order to deter mail and package theft, the USPS encourages residents to enable delivery alerts, put deliveries on hold if out of town, or even opting for in-person pickup at the Post Office.

If you have video cameras, the San Jose Police Department recommends focusing them on key areas: front door, driveway, street view, and side door. Additionally, you can partner with my office and the SJPD in fighting crime by registering your camera in the Camera Archive & Mapping (CAM) Program or by hosting a crime prevention meeting.

Lastly, be a responsible neighbor and avoid drinking and driving. On New Year's Eve, VTA will offer extended bus and light rail services. Additionally, ride share services are always a good option to safely get to/from your destination!

I wish you all a safe holiday season and a Happy New Year!

It is my pleasure and privilege to serve as your City Councilmember,

In the Community

Hanukkah Proclamation

During the City Council meeting on December 10th, Councilmember Cohen and I recognized the cultural significance of Hanukkah.

Hanukkah serves as a time for families and friends to come together in celebration and to bask in the joy that comes with the holiday season.

Thank you to the members of The Villages Jewish Community for joining us and accepting the proclamation.

This year, Hanukkah is observed on December 25th through January 2nd. I wish everyone a Hanukkah that is filled with love, light, and peace.

Santa at the Square

Santa Claus made his way to the Evergreen Village Square to meet our neighbors!

Thank you to Shapell Properties, Kensei Judo, VE Art Studio, and the Evergreen Coffee Company for their partnership. As well as the Evergreen Leadership Neighborhood Association, the District 8 Community Roundtable, and the Office of Supervisor Sylvia Arenas.

This is how we activate our public spaces and create stronger neighborhoods!

Welch Park NA's Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Our neighborhood associations and volunteers are an integral part of our community. I want to recognize the new and continuing members of the Welch Park Neighborhood Association board, and the amazing individuals and families who have played a vital role in building stronger neighborhoods.

Additionally, huge thank you to former president, Alberto, for his leadership and dedication to helping our community.

Commendation for Jim Beall

Having previously worked for Jim Beall during his time at the Senate, it was a surreal experience to present him with a commendation for his decades of public service.

At 28, he was the youngest person elected to the San Jose City Council where he championed parks, community centers, and transportation infrastructure. Jim Beall has mentored and guided students, young professionals, and public servants everywhere.

Thank you for a lifelong commitment to public service, Jim!

Your Tax Dollars At Work

King Road Complete Streets Plan

The City of San Jose is leading the King Road Complete Streets Plan, which is looking at various multimodal improvements along the King corridor (Berryessa to Capitol Expy).

One of the key improvements identified for the corridor are bus only lanes. The City originally proposed continuous bus lanes but received feedback from neighbors who were concerned about parking loss. The City took that feedback and developed revised concepts that removes the bus lanes from the two areas of concern: McKee-Alum Rock and Virginia-Tully.

If you want to leave feedback on the King Road Complete Streets Plan? Fill out a short form to submit a comment by Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
