We know that workplace tragedies have a ripple effect: families and friends are forever changed. But the impact goes even further: coworkers, managers and even CEOs can be impacted by the devastating outward ripple. Paul Martin is a former CEO from the gold mining sector who attended our Central Family Forum in September 2018. Having directly felt the negative ripples from a workplace tragedy, he wanted to create some positive ones. Paul shared “Threads of Life have developed a program for supporting the impacted families that goes far beyond where a typical company-designed Employee Assistance Program goes. Having attended just one of the Family Forum sessions, I knew immediately that this organization merited support. I decided to reach out to several Canadian mining companies for support and I am grateful for their positive response.” Those mining companies (Alamos Gold, Detour Gold, Franco-Nevada and New Gold), plus Paul's contribution, are now sponsoring our family forums having raised over $100,000 for families of workplace tragedy. Thank you, Paul, for stepping up as a champion for our family support programs!
