2021 K-12 Keep California Beautiful (KCB) Challenge

Each year, several Ventura schools compete in the KCB K-12 Recycling Challenge, where students collect and measure their recycling for an entire month. This year, KBC has reimagined the Challenge and expanded opportunities to participate including:

1. Recycling Art Contest
2. Video Contest
3. Environmental App Litter Assessment
4. Keep California Beautiful Environmental School Designation
Food Waste Prevention
Feeling a little sugared out from the holidays? Make a visit to one of our local famers markets to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables. Farmers markets are a great way to support our local agricultural community while reducing our environmental impact. When we buy local produce, we dramatically reduce the transportation process which uses fossil fuels and can result in lost produce during transport and delivery. Visit one of our local Farmers Markets:
Wednesday at the Pacific View Mall parking lot, 9am – 1pm
Saturday at Santa Clara St. and Palm St. in Downtown Ventura, 8:30am – 12pm.

Recycle Coach Tip
Can you recycle batteries? All batteries, including standard, watch, laptop and mobile phone batteries, must be disposed of safely. Please drop them off at one of the many retailers that participate in the Call2Recycle program, or bring them to a hazardous waste location. Batteries should not be placed in the garbage or recycle bin.

Other products such as paint, pesticides, motor oil, compact fluorescent light bulbs and smoke detectors can also be harmful if not disposed of safely at a Household Hazardous Waste Event.
