Travel & Hospitality Survey

The tourism and hospitality industry is facing enormous challenges today that we couldn’t have imagined just a few short months ago.

The Ontario Tourism Education Corporation (OTEC), The Future Skills Centre (FSC), and industry partners have joined together to launch Tourism & Hospitality Emergency Response : A Recovery Plan for Workers & Workplaces. It will connect workers in these sectors with the skills, training and employment supports they need to get back to work. Tourism & Hospitality Emergency Response is funded by the Government of Canada and in part by the Government of Ontario.

Impacted travel and hositpiality workers are encouraged to participate in a survey to share how their jobs have been affected. Responses will be used to inform advocacy efforts and to help design targeted training programs and supports to help those most affected in the best way possible. Click here to access the survey.

In their new report, AJ Tibando and Arvind Gupta explore Palette Inc., a not-for-profit platform that was created to upskill diverse and non-traditional workers in an ICT sector biased against hiring them. It looks like the Palette model is working.
