The Glendale Chamber Initiates Political Action Committee
The Glendale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently approved the creation of the Glendale Chamber PAC. This PAC was created to actively support candidates who share the principals and priorities of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. The focus of the PAC will be to assist business-friendly candidates regardless of party, who seek elected office.

Meet our 2017 Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are the policy body of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. Its members represent a cross-section of the business and professional leadership in the community. It has always been considered an honor to serve on the Board. Genuine and unselfish interest in the Chamber and its objective is the first requirement for the Board members. The board performs the legislative function for the organization. That is, it makes all policy decisions for the Chamber. Specifically the board shall:

  • Set the overall policy for the Chamber
  • Identify and help establish goals of the Chamber through its approved program
    of work
  • Provide adequate funding though the annual budget to carry out the program
    of work
  • Ensure dues structure is in place to support the Chamber's program of work
  • Elect officers in accordance with the by-laws of the Chamber
  • Recommend and approve changes to the by-laws
  • Meet as required by the by-laws
For 90 years, the Glendale Chamber of Commerce has been fostering an energetic momentum aimed at building a thriving business community. Today, business leaders and innovators are engaging with the Chamber at special events, regular meetings and networking opportunities in record numbers. It’s this continual synergy that has me excited for the year ahead. Most of all, I’m looking forward to connecting with all members, new and long-standing, while supporting the upward trend that’s having a direct impact on Glendale and surrounding neighborhoods. Military & Veterans Affairs Committee

The Glendale Chamber Military & Veterans Affairs Committee have coordinated a ceremony to honor high school seniors joining the military.

Nearly 150 high school seniors in the Glendale area who have chosen to enter military service will be honored at the first annual Group Induction Ceremony on April 28th at the Calvary Community Church, 6060 W. Bell Road.  The seniors will receive a stole depicting their branch of service and a special challenge coin featuring the five major branches of service on one side and the American Flag with the logos of the City of Glendale and the Glendale Chamber of Commerce on the other side.  Look for the story and photos from the event in the next newsletter.

Downtown Glendale
What's New in Downtown Glendale

Located at the northeast corner of 59th Ave and Myrtle, the Glendale Farmers Market operates every other Saturday from 9-1 pm. The Market is focused on bringing healthy eating to Downtown Glendale. Vendors include local produce farms, artisanal food, handcrafts and more.

The Glendale Farmers Market will run through May.

Glendale receives A1 Bond Rating
with  Moody's New Upgrade

Financial rating agency Moody’s Investors Service has upgraded Glendale’s general obligation bond and excise tax bond rating one step to A1 from an A2. This upgrade follows a January 2016 Moody’s upgrade to A2 from an A3 and a March 2016 Standard & Poor’s Rating Services’ upgrade to A+ from a BBB+.  The city has been given a stable outlook from both rating agencies.

In the April 11 report, Moody’s pointed to the way Glendale continues to budget conservatively and drive financial performance toward its policy of slowly growing general fund reserves to at least 25% within 5 years as reasons for the stable outlook. The Moody’s report also referenced...

Welcome Big Chase Adventures to Glendale

Big Chase Adventures is a tour company that focuses on daily tours to Sedona, the Grand Canyon and other Arizona highlights. Tours originate from West Valley hotels located in Avondale, Glendale, Goodyear and Peoria. Reservations should be made at least one day prior to the tour. Pickup times can vary from 6:00 am to 7:30 am. Last minute requests and custom tours may incur a small surcharge.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day

Valley of the Sun YMCA invites families to YMCA's Healthy Kids Day, April 29.

Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families. This year’s event will feature activities & giveaways for all ages around fun, safety, nutrition and healthy living. Activities will include a focus on healthy eating, water safety, arts and crafts, face painting, bounce house, food vendors and more.

West Valley Gives Rally and Treasure Walk

Please join us for a fundraising event to benefit Treasure House, a West Valley non-profit organization. University of Phoenix Stadium, Visit Glendale, and WESTMARC partnered together to create this inspiring community outreach event.
