Visa Hills park gathering
Thanks to a Vista Hills neighbour, Jessica, community members gathered for a fun filled day at their local park this June. While the weather was cooler than planned, neighbours still found ways to celebrate the time outside. Families got to enjoy the park, play games, eat snacks and be together!

Access for gardeners grows in Heasley Park
Heasley Park is home to well-loved community garden space for neighbours in the Lakeshore South community. This year, with the support of City of Waterloo staff, the community garden team was able to expand the location to welcome more neighbours. Garden volunteer, Megan, was happy to share that many neighbours got off the long waitlist and into the garden!
Neighbour shout-outs!

Spotted: Neighbourhood Kindness!

Brian, a kind neighbour in his sixties has been shovelling driveways for folks who are unable to do it themselves. He does an amazing job, sometimes shovelling two or three properties a day. He's very friendly and respectful with everyone he works with. He also shovels by hand! No snowblower for this amazing snow angel!

Thank you Brian.

Is there someone doing awesome near you?

The City of Waterloo wants to recognize people who do something great, big or small, in their neighbourhood. Nominations will be accepted year-round and every nominee will receive a thank you package.

How can you get involved?

Time to play at Old Post Park
Child climbing on a playground
Neighbours surrounding Old Post Park are celebrating a new playground! Community leaders came together to raise funds to help improve the park amenities and offer enhanced playground features. Learn more about the complete Old Post Park Playground process on the Engage Waterloo project page. In June, the neighbourhood was able to celebrate the grand opening with the help of a mini grant for snacks, games, and fun at the playground. Lots of hours of play at the park are ahead for neighbours!
Display a 'please slow down' lawn sign
Sign on lawn with text reading slow down please with an icon of a bike, car and bus. CAA logo and city of waterloo logo
Keeping our neighbourhoods safe is a shared responsibility which is why CAA and the City of Waterloo have partnered on this project. When well-placed, these signs aim to make roads safer for all members of the community.

Lawn signs are available for pick-up at RIM Park (2001 University Avenue East, Waterloo) and another location coming soon. Review the criteria for sign assembly, installation and placement on the City of Waterloo traffic calming policy webpage.

If you would like to arrange a bulk pick-up for your neighbourhood, please complete the online form here. Ask neighbours in advance if they are interested and consider porch pick-up spots for easy distribution.
