GRANT AWARDS: 


CC congratulates the City of Stockton (a CC client) for being awarded the Caltrans Active Transportation Program (ATP) in the amount of $4,390,000 from the California Department of Transportation.

These monies will fund the California Street Separated Bikeway Project.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City's leadership to protect and promote the quality of life for its residents.

It's also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CC Project Manager, Danielle Sotelo, who ensured a successful grant application.

California Consulting congratulates the City of Manteca for receiving the CalTrans Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP Cycle 9) in the amount of $2,866,030.

CC congratulates the City of Glendale (a CC client) for receiving the CalTRANS Highway Safety and Improvement Program (HSIP) for two projects totaling over $1.2 Million.
 
These funds will fund pedestrian crossing projects as well as a guard rail project. This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of Glendale's leadership to protect and promote the quality of life for its residents. 

It's also a reflection of the dedication and hard work by CC Project Manager, Ashley Ramsey, who ensured a successful grant application.

CC congratulates the City of Bell (a CC client) for being awarded Body Worn Camera Grant in the amount of $511,756 from the Department of Justice.

CC congratulates the City of Baldwin Park (a CC client) for being awarded Homeless Implementation Grant in the amount of $169,200.

The project goal is to increase the supply of interim and permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness within the City of Baldwin Park. Grant funds will provide technical assistance and consulting services, and support a land assessment and feasibility study to conduct the following activities:

*             Develop and implement land acquisition strategies that will result in an increase in supportive housing supply
*             Implement land use/zoning changes to reduce barriers to interim and permanent housing
*             Achieve city compliance with CA Senate Bill 2
*             Implement city policy changes that result in changes to increase the housing supply
 
This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City of Bell's leadership to protect and promote the quality of life for its residents.

CC congratulates the City of Baldwin Park, El Monte, and South El Monte for receiving the Homeless Implementation Grant (Collaborative/ Joint Application) in the amount for $113,000.

This funding award is f or housing navigators and housing coordinators to build their regional approach to tackling homelessness, the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative and United Way of Greater Los Angeles announced the award of more than $3.8 million in Measure H funding to bolster the work of cities in implementing city-specific plans to combat and prevent homelessness.  

This funding award is a significant next step in strengthening the collaboration between the County and cities in the region, which are united in their commitment to address this complex humanitarian crisis. 

This application was written by CC Project Manager, Karen Simpson, who ensured a successful grant application.

California Consulting Hosts Proposition 68 Informational Call with 50 Cities Attending 

Recently, Calfornia Consulting hosted an Informational Proposition 68 Conference Call that featured special guests from the California State Parks and Recreation Office of Grants and Local Services. Over 50 Cities attended the meeting and had a chance to ask questions during the Q&A session. California Consulting is happy to provide a list of all the  programs offered by Prop. 68 here.

California Consulting Welcomes Susan Phipps Carr as New Project Manager

Califonria Consulting is pleased to welcome Susan Phipps Carr as our newest Project Manaer. Susan is a Southern California native with over 30 years of grant writing experience. She has written the Los Angeles City Housing Authority and Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation as well nonprofit organizations in California and Texas.

 Ms. Carr has secured over $165,000,000 in grant programs and comes to California consulting with extensive knowledge in Redevelopment Agencies, Housing Department, Community Development Departments, and State HCD Programs.

 Ms. Carr has a Master's degree in Human Services and Human Development at Pepperdine, University.

California Consulting is pleased to spotlight our Statewide Senior Dirctor, Holly Bachman. 

Holly oversees our clients and potential clients throughout California. Holly joined California Consulting with over 16 years of experince in business development, marketing, and public relations. 

Holly received her B.A. in Sociology/Social Psychology from the University of Minnesota and has been living in California for the past 11 years. 

She enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies, attending sporting events, and most importantly giving back to the community through mentoring and organizing various local and national events that promote identity, diversity, and unity. She currently resides in the Pasadena area.

California Department of Parks and Recreation: Regional Parks Program (Proposition 68)

Eligibility: Counties, regional park districts, JPA's and nonprofit organizations


Eligible Projects:
  1. Acquisition for new or enhanced public access and use
  2. Development to create or renovate:
  • Trails, with preference given to multiuse trails over single-use trails
  • Regional sports complexes
  • Visitor and interpretive facilities
  • Other types of recreation and support facilities in regional parks

California Health Facilities Financing Authority: Community Services Infrastructure Grant Program (CSI)

Deadline: April 30, 2019

Amount: $65,813,000 for entire program.

Eligibility: Counties or counties acting jointly


The Community Services Infrastructure Grant Program intends to expand access to jail and prison diversion programs and services; create or expand mental health treatment facilities, substance use disorder treatment facilities, and trauma-centered service facilities in local communities; and reduce the need of mental health treatment, substance use disorder treatment, and trauma-centered services in jails and prisons. The 2017-2018 budget bill appropriated $65,813,000 to fund capital projects under the Community Services Infrastructure Grant Program.


California Energy Commission: Wildfire: Assessing and Preparing for Risks Under Climate Change (GFO-18-301)

Deadline: March 13, 2019

Amount: Up to $5 million

Match: No

Eligibility: Public and private entities, with the exception of local publicly owned electric utilities


The purpose of this solicitation is to develop tools and analysis to inform energy policy and planning decisions. The funded applied research and development project must fill gaps in knowledge of fire science and apply that new knowledge to improve models to assess wildfire risk for grid operations and planning. The project will develop next-generation wildfire risk models at both local and statewide scales. Such models are needed to help ensure resiliency of the electric grid in the near- and long-terms in the face of the growing wildfire risk under climate change. This solicitation is seeking specific advances in wildfire modeling regarding extreme weather and wind events, the effects of widespread tree mortality, the dynamics of vegetation/fuel with climate change, and fire behavior in the wildland-urban interface (WUI).

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES:

San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District: Electric School Bus Incentive Program

Deadline: Continuous

Amount: Up to $400,000

Match: Not specified

Eligibility: Must be in SJVAPCD eligible counties. The applicant must be the school bus owner that is a public school district, Joint Power Authorities (JPA), or private company that is contracted with a public school to transport public school children to and from school.


The Electric School Bus Incentive Program provides monetary incentives for the replacement of existing diesel yellow school buses that transport public school children to and from school with all electric school buses. Eligible applicants are public school districts, Joint Power Authorities (JPA), and privately owned yellow school buses that are contracted with a public school to transport public school children. Applicants must obtain an executed contract from the SJVAPCD prior to the order or purchase of new all electric school bus.


California Department of Education:Child Care Facilities Revolving Fund General Facilities Application FY 2018-19


Deadline: July 30, 2019

Amount: $26.8 million for entire program

Match: No

Eligibility: Institutions of higher education, local educational agencies, nonprofit organizations


The Child Care Facilities Revolving Fund (CCFRF) General Facilities loan provides funding for the purchase of new relocatable child care facilities for lease to school districts and contracting agencies that provide child care and development services. Applicant agencies receiving funds under the CCFRF General Facilities loans must repay the CDE over a ten-year period, interest free. The CCFRF is not a grant program. Eligible grade levels are Pre-K through 6th.


U.S. Department of Education: Institute of Education Sciences (IES): Low-Cost, Short-Duration Evaluation of Education Interventions 

Deadline: March 7, 2019

Amount: No ceiling

Match: No

Eligibility: Applicants must have the ability and capacity to conduct scientifically valid research. Nonprofits, for-profit organizations, public and private agencies and institutions of higher education, such as colleges and universities.



In awarding these grants, the Institute of Education Sciences (Institute) intends to provide national leadership in expanding fundamental knowledge and understanding of (1) developmental and school readiness outcomes for infants and toddlers with or at risk for a disability, (2) education outcomes for all
students from early childhood education through postsecondary and adult education, and (3) employment and wage outcomes when relevant (such as for students who engaged in career and technical, postsecondary, or adult education). The Institute's research grant programs are designed to provide interested individuals and the general public with reliable and valid information about education practices that support learning and improve academic achievement and access to education opportunities for all students. These interested individuals include parents, educators, students, researchers, and policymakers. In carrying out its grant programs, the Institute provides support for programs of research
in areas of demonstrated national need.
