2020 ANNUAL REPORT
Like most businesses, our Northwest Arkansas saw some big changes in 2020. We are proud that we were able to switch gears and become a resource for our NWAHBA members, as well as our entire community! NORTHWEST TECHNICAL INSTITUTE CHECK PRESENTATION
The NWA Home Builders Association Foundation would like to congratulate Jose Marin for receiving a scholarship for the Fall 2020 Semester of the HVAC program at Northwest Technical Institute. Several of our Board Members including our new President, Jeremy Lewis, came out to NWTI on December 9th to present Jose with a check for his scholarship. Congratulations Jose!
NEW NWAHBA MARKETING MANAGER
We recently said goodbye to Sarah Saygar, and hello to Lauren Acklin -- the new Marketing Manager with the NWAHBA. Lauren recently moved to Northwest Arkansas from Colorado to be closer to her family. She brings with her over 15 years of experience in marketing and design. In addition, Lauren loves Tex-Mex, a good pair of boots, and her cat Charlie. We welcome her to the organization!
NWA HOME SHOW REGISTRATION BEGINS SOON
The NWA Home Show Presented by Waco Title will be held May 21-23. Registration begins January 7th for our 2020 participants, so be on the lookout for your registration form via email.
WINS FROM COVID RELIEF PACKAGE
A $900 billion economic relief package approved by the House and Senate on Dec. 21 includes key provisions that NAHB championed. President Trump signed the measure into law six days later on Sunday, Dec. 27.

The NAHB worked closely with Democratic and Republican congressional leaders to ensure the recovery legislation addresses three major builder concerns...
LUMBER AND TARIFF UPDATES
With lumber prices experiencing extreme price volatility this year and harming housing affordability, a final determination of the first administrative review by the U.S. Commerce Department to reduce duties on shipments of Canadian lumber into the United States by more than half is good news for American home builders and home buyers. Lower tariffs would mitigate uncertainty and associated volatility that has plagued the marketplace, which could help ease upward price pressure on lumber prices. NAHB continues to work on all fronts to find solutions that will ensure a lasting and stable supply of lumber for the home building industry at a competitive price.
