The Good News
The Beacon Institute is the recipient of a grant from the Office of Health Care Quality to provide the Engage with Older Adults program from the Mental Health Association of Maryland. Engage with™ Skills Trainings are highly interactive, comprehensive skills-based trainings. The programs use an innovative gamification approach in a virtual environment and cover topics such as mental and behavioral health conditions, substance use and medication misuse, neurocognitive disorders, traumatic brain injury (TBI), de-escalation, and suicide risk identification. The trainings help participants better understand with whom they interact. The trainings emphasize a person-centered approach, dispel myths, increase awareness, and promote meaningful engagement.
We are excited to invite you to participate in the Engage with training being offered to skilled nursing facilities. Due to the grant parameters, only nursing home staff are eligible to participate in the grant.
Training is starting next week, and you must register to participate. Email Lesley Flaim for information and a code to register.
The Fine Print
Due to the grant parameters, only nursing home staff are eligible to participate in the grant. Any nursing home employee/position is invited to the training. We hope to make the training available to Assisted Living communities as well in the near future.
