Message from Health Director
This week began a new phase of relaxed restrictions regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Please watch this message from the Sarpy/Cass Health Director, Sarah Schram. Be safe!
La Vista Summer 2.0
The summer of 2020 is not at all what any of us expected, right? We haven’t been able to host any of the fun, exciting 60th anniversary events we had planned for you, and we’re bummed about that!

But, we don’t rest on our laurels, and we’re excited to share with you our community engagement plans for the summer, something we’re calling Summer 2.0, or our alternative version.

These are fun, thrilling new ways to celebrate the summer - and bring the community together.

Our plans include four campaigns that we’d love for you to be a part of and one very exciting event we’ve planned for July.
Nominate a Healthcare Hero!
The City of La Vista would like to recognize those in our community who have been working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

New banners have been placed at all the City’s major intersections as a way of saying thank you to all the essential workers in our community.

Nominate a friend or loved one and we’ll tell their story here and on our social media accounts. We will give away a gift card each week to a healthcare worker.
Storybook Walk at Southwind Park
Have you visited the Storybook Walk at Southwind Park yet? Did you know that Goldilocks is considered a villain? Will she finally obey her parents?

Visit the park until July 12 to find out!

Watch until the end of this video to find out when the next Storybook Walk will appear!
Curbside Service now available from the Library
The La Vista Public Library will begin offering limited curbside pick-up service to patrons May 20.

This service is available to those who currently have a library card and will take place Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

There are three options to request materials from the Library during this time:
  1. Call 402-537-3900.
  2. Send an e-mail to [email protected].
  3. Place a hold on the desired materials by visiting the Library’s online catalog (www.cityoflavista.org/librarycatalog) and logging in to your account.

Patrons must have less than $60 in overdue fines.

When requested materials are ready to be picked up, Library staff will call the patron with a specified pick-up day and time. To pick-up materials, patrons will arrive at their designated time on the west side of the Library.

Materials can be returned at any time using the book drop on the west side of the building. Any items too large for the book drop, such as board games, should not be returned until the Library is open again. Patrons will not be allowed to return items to staff when retrieving other items.

All staff will be wearing masks and practicing social distancing whenever possible, and all materials will be sanitized before being distributed and after being returned to the Library.
Summer Reading Program 2020
Imagine Your Story: A Virtual Experience
The La Vista Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will look a little different in 2020 because of the pandemic, but we’re excited to launch a virtual program that will begin June 3 and go until July 29.

The theme this year is Imagine Your Story, and we’ll be using a free app called Reader Zone to log your reading experiences!

You can register your family and join our program in just a few easy steps, and soon you’ll be working your way toward your summer reading goal!
