Colton’s mom, Stephanie, never thought she could get pregnant. She calls Colton her miracle child. Her heart was full of joy with the arrival of her son. So, as Colton began to show signs of developmental delay as an infant, Stephanie was quick to seek therapy and supports for him.
Despite his therapy, Colton’s delays continued, impacting his motor skills and communication. When Colton was 2 years old, he received his medical diagnosis. Stephanie’s life turned upside down. She was told that Colton might never talk. She grieved the loss of the future she envisioned for her son.
At age 3, Colton entered Arc Broward Preschool. At the time, he was only able to say a few words. Upon enrolling, Colton was immersed in a language-rich environment, with dedicated teachers and therapists to help him reach his goals.
Colton is now 5 years old. His language skills are flourishing. He is excited to go to school each day and enjoys circle time and singing songs with his class. He loves cars and can tell you the make and model of most cars he sees.
Stephanie credits Colton’s tremendous growth to his teachers and therapists at Arc Broward. She is thankful to have Colton in an environment where he can thrive!
