Participate in the HPED Business & Consumer Surveys!
Are you a business owner in Haverford Township? HPED is conducting a survey for business owners about business needs and preferences to guide us as we work to support our business community. Please forward this link to other business owners!

We are also conducting a survey of Haverford Township residents regarding Consumer needs and desires. If you are a Township Resident, please take this survey (there will be a few questions that are the same for both surveys).

Thank you for your participation! All answers you provide will be kept confidential and only be used in aggregate.
Nominations Sought for Annual HPED Award

The award is given to recognize service which reflects Don's qualities of intelligence, vision, passion, persistence, and hard work. The award will be presented at our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 2nd.

All HPED members are eligible to nominate recipients; HPED board will make final selection.
Please email your nominations to Jeanne Angell at [email protected] .
New Oakmont South Walkway
The walkway project in Oakmont South will break ground this week! At HPED's request, the Township applied for and received a HUD grant to landscape the walkway between Wagner Real Estate and Lizelle's Bridal Salon which leads from Darby Road to the municipal parking lot.

The walkway, modeled after one in Bryn Mawr, will include a brick path lined by gardens and enhanced lighting.
New Receptacles will Assist with Litter Prevention
As part of our efforts to beautify our business districts, HPED has placed cigarette butt receptacles in eight locations around the Township.

"We targeted bus stops and areas near bars where we were seeing cigarette litter on the street or in our planters," explained HPED Board Member Mario Oliva.

The locations include Oakmont Village, Oakmont South, Brookline, Manoa, and Llanerch.
Business District Upgrade near Library
The final phase of the project on Darby Road near the Library, which began last summer with the new crosswalk at Haverford Middle School, is finally being completed!

The project addresses storm water management issues, pedestrian and traffic safety, business district beautification and lighting.

The raised planting beds, which will be planted with trees, shrubs and perennials, will collect storm water and divert it to underground basins.

Kuddos to Township Manager Larry Gentile, who worked with authorities at PennDot to manage the complicated approvals that were necessary.
Havertown Welcomes Sippy's!
The recently opened bubble tea shop, Sippy’s, has already made a splash on Darby Road, just off Brookline Boulevard.

Owned by Samira Butt with the rotating assistance of her five children, Sippy’s is truly a family business. The idea for shop was born out of the siblings’ love for bubble tea. During their college years, they would all meet up in the City of Brotherly Love to celebrate family over a cup of bubble tea. When this tradition persisted post-grad, the Butt family realized that there might be a business opportunity in the realm of bubble tea. Why should people have to go all the way to Philly for bubble tea?
Not familiar with Bubble Tea? The tea can be fruit flavored or milk-infused such as Matcha green tea or Thai tea. The Boba, or balls of tapioca which sink to the bottom, are sucked up through a large straw. If you haven't tried Bubble Tea, now is your chance!

Residents of Havertown no longer have to make the trek to the city for this specialty drink. In addition to bubble tea, though, Sippy’s also offers coffee, and new spins off of both both drinks.

Sippy’s connection with the community is very strong, with the family’s long-time roots in Havertown and their general love of community and family. This connection to the community manifests itself in Sippy’s suggestion-taking. Customers can suggest new drinks, such as oreo iced coffee, and Sippy’s will figure out how to make it and add it to the menu!
If you haven’t checked out Sippy’s yet, be sure to stop by! They’re open every afternoon at 1327 Darby Rd, Havertown.
