in our Holiday Window Display Contest
The Haverford Partnership for Economic Development (HPED) is please to announce that the Haverford Area YMCA has won the “People’s Choice Contest” in which members of the public were invited to vote for their favorite window display.

A total of 260 individual votes were cast via the HPED website during the voting period of December 22-31, 2017. Voters were able to view beautiful photos of the 11 previously judged winners of the Most Beautiful Window, Most Creative Window, Most Effective Marketing Window, Most Whimsical and Most Beautiful Façade categories. The photos were provided compliments of Scott Reynolds of STR Productions. Voters could also "write-in" a vote for a business.

For the People’s Choice Award the first place winner by a wide margin was the Haverford Area Branch of the YMCA at 891 N. Eagle Road. Melanie Greaves, spokesperson for the Haverford Area Branch shared her reaction to the award. “We are beyond thrilled to be the People's Choice award winner. Our community makes us who we are and we wanted our window display to paint a picture of our diversity. It truly was a team effort and we hope we were able to add some holiday cheer to Havertown.”

The People’s Choice for second place was Vicious Vesture at 1225 Darby Road. Third place was Jon Lauri Hair Salon at 129 W. Eagle Road.  Congratulations to all of the winners of the Holiday Window Display Contest and thank you to all of the businesses who participated. Your efforts add a bright and cheerful look to our business districts!
Welcome to Town Tap!
HPED is excited to welcome Town Tap of Conshohocken Brewing Company to Havertown! Located at the former site of Nais Cusisine on W. Benedict Avenue in Oakmont South, Town Tap promises to add a special flavor to the Havertown restaurant and bar scene.
Conshohocken Brewing Company Owner John Remington grew up in Massachusetts but attended St. Joes University and has lived in Havertown for several years.

This is John and his partners' fourth location. In addition to the Tap Room in Conshohocken, they own the BrewPub in Conshohocken and opened the Rec Room in Phoenixville last month.

"Our success is a result of our rigorous approach to brewing and a high quality product," explains Remington. "At Town Tap we will offer 12 beers on tap each week, including the H-Town IPA!" Food offerings will be simple, unique and family-friendly.

Plans for the Town Tap include large doors that open to the outside across the front of the building and an outdoor beer garden on the property adjacent to the building.

The Town Tap will open in the next few weeks. Watch for an announcement on their website.
Booths are Filling at HPED's
Haverford Home & Garden Show
The inaugural Haverford Home & Garden Show, to beheld at Haverford Reserve on Sunday, April 15th has gained momentum, and applications for booth space are now coming in at a fast pace. Over 30 booth spaces have already been filled, and we have been lining up a full schedule of presentations and workshops, as well.

The show will be a way to connect local businesses and residents at a fun community event, as well as to raise funds for the work of HPED. The show will allow us to serve a unique and significant sector of Haverford Township Businesses. We know residents want to support local businesses, and we want to provide an opportunity for customers and businesses to connect face-to-face.

HPED’s Home & Garden Show Committee is working to create a show with a variety of vendor and marketplace booths that fit the theme of the show, and we will limit the number of each type of vendor to ensure a wide range of products and services at the show. Requests for booth space will be reviewed and granted by the committee. HPED business members will receive a discount.

The Show will include vendors such as general contractors, plumbers, electricians, roofers, painters, lawn care providers, architects, interior designers, realtors, financial services such as banks, phone and internet services, and businesses that sell home improvement, gardening or landscaping products.

There will be a marketplace where vendors can sell home and garden items such as garden tools, bird houses and bird feeders, fine art, live plants, pillows and table linens, candles, antiques and gift items.

Throughout the day, a variety of presentations and classes will be scheduled on topics such as curb appeal, downsizing, container gardening, interior decorating, historic preservation, energy conservation and savings, organic gardening, and green-friendly remodeling.  Mike McGrath from WHYY's You Bet Your Garden will be our keynote speaker. Make & Take workshops will be offered for visitors who want a hands-on experience.
