Quizzo for Community
HPED Fundraiser on Tuesday, March 21st
|
|
Come out for a night of fun, plus support HPED and the local business community!
After several years of missing Quizzo Night at Peabody's Pub, a group of Havertonians have decided to organize a monthly Quizzo Night led by Peabody's Ace McGilvery. We will rotate to different restaurants, bars, and other public places, and proceeds will benefit a different Haverford Township non-profit group each month.
The Quizzo nights will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 8:00-10:00 pm. There will be three rounds. One of the rounds of questions will relate topically to the non-profit (Botanical for Tree Tenders, Township history for the historical society, etc.). The other two rounds will be general questions on geography, sports, movies and TV, history, music, etc.
Donation of $10 per person at the door and proceeds from a 50/50 raffle will given to the non-profit of the month.
Teams of 3-6 people can participate. Groups larger than 6 should break up into two teams. Singles or couples will be matched with others to form a team.
The first two will be:
March 21 - at Oakmont Pub at Eagle & Darby Rds to support HPED
April 18 - at Sam's Place on County Line Rd. to support the Historical Society
Come out for an evening of fun and contribute to your community! Hope to see you there!

HPED Welcomes Poppi's Cafe!
Two old friends, John Antista and Tony Andreachio, had been thinking about opening a restaurant together for years. Last year, their lives were finally in sync, and they were able to realize their dream with the creation of Poppi's Cafe at 1254 Township Line Road in the Township Line Shopping Center.
John
has owned and managed several breakfast/lunch restaurants at the Jersey Shore, but is happy to be back in Havertown, where he lived a decade ago. Tony, who grew up in Delaware County and has lived with his wife in Westgate Hills for over thirty years, has a background in management and IT.
"Our intention is to be the friendliest place in town," explains Tony. "We have tried to make the space bright and homey, and we are hiring staff who will make our customers feel at home!"
Poppi's Cafe opened this week, but their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting will be held on Saturday, March 18th at 10:00am.

Rustic Planters on their Way
|
Rustic cast-stone planters that look like aged wood boxes will be installed on Darby Road in Oakmont this year -- between Brick & Brew and MAB Paints, and in the block where The Crossbar is located.
The planters, selected by a majority of the businesses in that area, will complement the rustic decor of Brick and Brew, as well as the other stone and brick facades.
The planters will be installed this spring, with a combination of grasses and flowers. They will provide a nice buffer from the street for pedestrians as well as people dining on the sidewalk.

Planting Volunteers Needed

We are so excited about all the greening and beautification projects going on the Township, but HPED, Haverford Green, Tree Tenders, the Rotary Club, the Rain Garden Initiative, and other Haverford in Bloom initiatives need your help!
If you can volunteer for a planting work day this year, please use
this link to receive announcements as they are scheduled.
We can also set up work days for your corporate or school group, civic association, church, etc. Contact Jeanne Angell at
