Haverford Home & Garden Show
April 15, 2018
10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Haverford Reserve
|
|
We are excited to announce the Haverford Home & Garden Show, hosted and organized by Haverford Partnership for Economic Development (HPED). The show will be a way to connect local businesses and residents at a fun community event, as well as to raise funds for the work of HPED. The goals of HPED are to support local businesses, promote economic development, enhance the image of Haverford Township, and revitalize our business districts and public spaces. HPED is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
The Haverford Home & Garden Show will benefit HPED, Haverford Township, local businesses and the community in a variety of ways. “The show will allow us to serve a unique and significant sector of Haverford Township Businesses. We know residents want to support local businesses, and we want to provide an opportunity for customers and businesses to connect face-to-face,” explains show organizer Jeanne Angell.
HPED business members will receive a discount on booth space.
Vendor spots will first be offered to HPED members and Haverford Township businesses, but we will offer booth space to other regional businesses after December 1st.
The Show will include a variety of vendors such as general contractors, plumbers, electricians, roofers, painters, lawn care providers, architects, interior designers, realtors, financial services such as banks, insurance companies, phone and internet services, and businesses that sell home improvement, gardening or landscaping products.
There will be a marketplace where vendors can sell home and garden items such as garden tools, bird houses and bird feeders, fine art, plants, pillows and table linens, candles, antiques and gift items. Throughout the day, a variety of presentations and classes will be scheduled on topics such as curb appeal, downsizing, container gardening, interior decorating, historic preservation, and green-friendly remodeling. Make & Take workshops will be offered for visitors who want a hands-on experience. Projects might include creating a terrarium, rewiring a lamp, making a wreath, canning or grilling techniques, or making a painting to take home.
Township Commissioner, HPED Board Member and Home Show Committee member Mario Oliva thinks this show will become an annual event. “We expect it to be a big success, drawing thousands of consumers from Delaware County and the Main Line. We have an amazing pool of potential customers who would love to attend a home show in their community and to shop local.”

HPED's Median Planters selected for PHS Award
|
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has awarded the median planters in Llanerch the "Garden of Distinction Award" in their Gardening and Greening Contest. The planters were selected from over 350 entries this year.
"We applaud your commitment to enhance your neighborhood through your work in the garden," PHS notes. "Thank you for the positive impact that your efforts have on your community."
Thank you to the Public Works Department who built the planters, helped with planting and did a great job watering them over the summer.
Thanks to our volunteers Gina Ranieri, Mario Oliva, and Mark Anderson who helped with planning and on the planting day.
The third and fourth median planters, to be located on Darby Road in Llanerch between East Park and Moewyn Roads, are currently being built and will be planted this month.

Every employer in Pennsylvania must have workers’ compensation insurance. Despite this fact, many employers do not understand how this complex and confusing system works. In this program, Havertown attorney Daniel J. Siegel will discuss and answer questions about the basics of workers’ compensation law in non-legal terms so that businesses and medical providers understand their rights and their obligations. The first 20 attendees will receive a free copy of the speaker’s new book, a $49.95 value.
