Spotlight on Learning
A new chapter in ELA - Arts & Letters
This year, our Lower School is turning the page to an exciting new chapter in English Language Arts with the launch of the Arts & Letters curriculum. Grounded in the belief that children become confident, thoughtful readers and writers through exposure to rich literature, authentic writing experiences, and meaningful discussion, Arts & Letters is a comprehensive ELA program designed to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of language.
What sets Arts & Letters apart is its unique integration of classic and contemporary texts, foundational skills, and deep thinking. Students are engaging with stories and informational texts that challenge them to make connections across content areas including social studies, science, and the arts while building strong literacy skills.
From phonics routines that build decoding confidence to writing projects that encourage selfexpression and critical thought, the curriculum meets students where they are and invites them to grow. Daily lessons are infused with conversation, collaboration, and creativity, helping our young learners develop not only as readers and writers but also as thinkers and communicators.
We're already seeing the impact: joyful reading, thoughtful questions, and eager writing abound in our classrooms. We’re excited to continue this journey with our students and look forward to the many stories, ideas, and discoveries that will unfold.
With gratitude and blessings,
MRS. LEEBRICK
