OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP & ESA APPLICATIONS

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS THU, MARCH 6, 5:00PM

Families can apply for the Opportunity Scholarship and ESA+ scholarship starting February 6 at 9:00 am! Applications will remain open until March 6 at 5:00 pm. Completed Opportunity Scholarship and ESA+ applications submitted during the application period will be entered into each program’s lottery.

The Opportunity Scholarship lottery will be conducted according to award tier. Students in the lowest household income tier will receive first priority.

Application assistance: Families with questions about the application process should call 855-330-3955. On-demand interpreters are available by phone in 230+ languages.

In STEAM classes, 1st-5th graders watched Tuesday's launch of Blue Origin's NS-30 rocket, which was completely remote controlled. Below are students' questions and comments about the event.

• I can drive a remote control car.
• Collective "WOW's!" as flames shot out of the rocket booster.
• I see the sky changing color! (As the rocket got higher, the color of the sky got darker.)
• "1,000 miles per hour isn't that fast." Then, "2,000 miles per hour might be fast."
• After discussing force and motion in relation to the rocket booster: I get it! It's like when you throw a baseball and the ball keeps going.
• Teacher: Do you know what 0G is? Student: Zero gravity!
• If it was remote controlled, did the crew have to be trained like astronauts?
• Were they up by the stars and planets?
• What would happen if a rocket hit a star?
• Will they land in water?
• Did they see heaven?
• Two more collective "WOW's!" when the rocket booster and passenger cabin touched down.
• Teacher: If Mr. Bezos invited you to go up in the rocket, would you go? Students: A resounding "YES!"
