A Letter from the Principal
October 18, 2025
Dear WCA Families,
What an exceptional week it has been at Weddington Christian Academy! On Monday, I challenged our students to reflect on what it truly means to challenge the mind, a key part of our school’s mission. Throughout the week, we explored how God has uniquely gifted each of us and how we can grow in and use those talents to glorify Him. This focus tied perfectly into the excitement surrounding our Talent Show on Friday night, where students had the opportunity to showcase the gifts God has placed within them.
On Wednesday, our Lower School Chapel was especially meaningful as we welcomed guest speakers Sam and Ty Buttrey. They shared their powerful testimony about how God has used their talents and experiences to serve others. Ty spoke about his time as a Major League pitcher and how his career opened doors to new ministry opportunities. Sam shared about her background in dancing for the NBA and how that experience has equipped her to connect with and mentor college athletes. Together, the Buttreys are using their platform through the NIL to serve young athletes while also hosting youth camps in underprivileged communities, giving back from all that God has given them.
Their message was an incredible reminder that our gifts are meant to be developed and used to make a difference in the lives of others. We are so grateful for the Buttreys’ time, their testimony, and the example they set for our students.
As we close out this week, I am so proud of our WCA community; students, teachers, and families alike for embracing the challenge to grow in mind, body, and spirit.
