STEAM WEEK

Mightier than the thunders of many waters,

mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty!

-Psalm 93:4

WCA STEAM Week will “ship” off Monday, September 11th,

and set anchor with Parents STEAM Night and Back-to-School Event

on Thursday, September 14

Oceans of the World is the theme for STEAM Week.  The Bible tells us about God’s creation of the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number - living things both large and small.

To help students dive deeper into knowledge about God’s creation, each grade level will be assigned a sea creature to use as their focus for learning, creating, and sharing through the special projects they'll make and display for Parents STEAM Night and Back-to-School Event.

WCA students will have an opportunity for experiential learning with a virtual field trip to the SC Aquarium.

Parents, mark you calendars and come “wade into the waters” with us and “sea” all grade-level projects at Parents STEAM Night and Back-to-School Event on Thursday, September 14.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for STEAM WEEK and the BOOK FAIR that begins Sep 14. Please use the link below to sign up.

Your help is appreciated!

WCA's Fall Sports teams are off to an awesome start!

SOCCER: WCA's Soccer team had their first match against Lee Park, last year’s conference champions, and played very well. It was a hot afternoon so with only one substitution available, most of the players ran for an hour with limited rest. The team pushed through the fatigue, playing some steady defense, shared the ball well, put a number of shots on goal and two in the back of the net. Lee Park won the match 5-2, but the Hawks made them work for it. We line up next at Fletcher, September 7 at 4:00, and at Covenant Classical, Sept. 8 at 4:00.

CROSS COUNTRY: WCA looked strong at their first meet of the season, the Carolinas Kickoff, at Metrolina Christian on Saturday, Aug. 26. Two of our athletes won medals in the elementary divisions. Noah Koerner was 14th in the boys, Riley Morris was 15th in the girls.

At Covenant Classical, on August 29, our girls team finished third in their race, with Elizabeth Potter finishing in second place overall. Cam Meadows was our top WCA male athlete, finishing 9th in his division.

Congrats to all!
