A Letter from Mrs. Leebrick

September 26, 2026

Dear WCA Families,

What a blessing this week has been!

This has certainly been a busy week for our Lower School students and staff, but it has also been such a fulfilling one. I am incredibly grateful for each and every WCA family who helped make this week so special, whether you volunteered at an event, shopped at our Book Fair, joined us for STEAM Night, or faithfully participated through prayer. Your partnership means more than you know!

In the midst of all the excitement on Wednesday, WCA had the privilege of standing alongside schools across our nation for See You at the Pole. While our Middle and High School students gathered outside and braved the weather, our Lower School students gathered together in the gym for a special time of prayer and worship.

Mrs. Arab shared a beautiful message with our students about letting go of the pen and allowing God to write our story. What a powerful reminder for all of us! As we closed our time together in worship, hearing our students lift their voices together was truly a beautiful sound. Moments like these remind me of the incredible blessing it is to be part of a school community where we can nurture not only the minds of our students, but their hearts and souls as well.

Thank you for making this week one filled with learning, joy, fellowship, and faith. I hope each of you has a beautiful and restful weekend with your families.

And don’t forget… NUTS Day is Monday!  We can’t wait to see everyone dressed in their personal best.

With gratitude,

Alexus Leebrick

Tip of the Week:

Calming Strategies, Part 2

Kids can learn to calm themselves by focusing on what’s happening with their bodies now. Mindfulness helps focus and soothe a worried mind, and makes it easier for kids to control how they react to stressors. This helps to build resilience.

Try these mindfulness and calming tips for kids. Repetition makes permanent.

Finger Tapping: Tap your thumb to each finger on your right hand first, then your left. Say a Bible verse or sing your favorite Christian song as you tap the thumb to each finger on both hands repeatedly.

Sensory Activities:

  • Call out animals and move like that animal with your child.
  • Call out senses in a new space and/or out in nature. What do you see? What do you smell? What do you hear? What can you touch? What can you taste (offer a healthy snack/drink)?
  • Bake a treat and call out the sensory experience. What ingredients do you see? What does the food feel like? What noise do you hear (timer, mixer)? What aroma do you smell? How does it taste?
