STRONG In Loving Our Neighbors
In Matthew 22:38, Jesus calls us to "Love our neighbor." This past week, our Hawks spent time exploring what that means. Our Lower School students had a Chapel lesson centered around the Operation Sandwich mission project. They learned that we have 9,280 homeless neighbors in North Carolina, and we can help them by making sandwiches to help Roof Above feed our neighbors here in Charlotte. Our Upper School students heard the same message and then gathered on Friday to assemble “bag lunches” for our working neighbors.
Now it's time to put our love in action with Operation Sandwich! If you have not had a chance, please sign up to make sandwiches on Sunday, February 13th at home and bring them to school Monday, February 14th. We will be collecting sandwiches in morning carpool.

Don't forget to take a picture of your family making sandwiches and share them with us! Send them to jharris@wcahawks.org. Thank you for giving love this February! | |

ACSI Day of Prayer
The ACSI Day of Prayer is an annual event that advances Christ-centered education by advocating through prayer. This year's theme is "Shalom." Shalom is more than a Hebrew greeting. It is contentment found in Jesus no matter the cultural tides encircling us. On February 15th WCA will unite globally with other schools to pray and unleash the Lord's shalom into this world. This single day of prayer will be powerful, and we are thankful for our WCA 7th and 8th graders that have faithfully stepped up to be our Day of Prayer leaders. Their plans include four prayer stations for classes to visit. Each station will have a prayer topic, an interactive experience, and encouraging scriptures that support the Shalom theme. Our station topics will be adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. #schoolsthatpray

STEAM DAY - WCA's Invention Convention
February 23 - February 25
We are celebrating God's gift of imagination! In our upcoming STEAM days, students will be learning more about how God uses the gift of imagination to make the world a better and more fun place! Each class will learn about inventors through research and class discussion and then put their own imaginations to work by building their inventions.
Parents, mark your calendars to join us in the gym on Friday, February 25 at 2 pm. Each class will have a display table where our students will be presenting their inventions. After presentations, parents may take their student(s) outside for some WCA family fellowship time.
We need lots of materials so our kids can create some exciting inventions. Please click the supply list link below and start gathering some of the listed recyclable items or sign up to purchase and send in some other needed items. Please send in your saved and purchased items February 16-18th. Children can drop their items off in their classrooms.

WCA's Creative Writing Team
On Friday, our Creative Writing Team met for a prayer and celebration breakfast. These hard-working students have been working on writing pieces for ACSI's Creative Writing Festival. In addition to celebrating the talents of emerging young writers, this national festival provides students with the opportunity to receive valuable feedback as they are encouraged to develop their writing skills. Our team met to celebrate and pray over the completed writing pieces before submitting them to ACSI.

5th & 6th Grade Blessing Bag Service Project
This week, WCA 5th and 6th grade students participated in a unique Valentine's Day service project. They are on a mission to spread the love of Christ in our community through blessing bags. Blessing Bags, also known as Necessity Bags or Care Kits, include various items for the homeless, hungry, and those in need of necessities. Our students plan to keep these bags in their cars, so they are available whenever they see someone asking for help.
