President's Note
Thank you to everyone one who came out for our first Family Bingo Night!  We had lots of student and parent winners.  We also had Silent Auction items available for Buy it Now.  Don't worry, we still have plenty of items left to sell this coming weekend on out Silent Auction FB page.  The page will be undergoing transition this week in preparation for bidding next Friday at 4pm thru Saturday at 4pm.  All bidding ends Saturday at 4pm.

Our Family Bingo Night was such fun we are considering a bigger Family Game Night after the new year.  We appreciate any feedback from this past weekend that would make another event even more successful.

Veterans Day Program
Our Veterans Day program is Tuesday 11/12/19 and starts at 6:00 pm.
Students should arrive at 5:45 wearing red, white or blue.
Military families should wear their respective uniforms.

Our guest speaker this year is Adrian Watts.  She has a first grader at HCES and we would like to share a little about her impressive career.

Major Adrian Nicole Watts was born in Dallas, Texas, where she lived with her family until attending the United States Military Academy (USMA) beginning in June of 2000. Her interest in the Army began when she was recruited by the USMA soccer coaches to play for team, which she did while at the Academy. MAJ Watts graduated and was commissioned in 2004 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Signal Corps, and was sent to Fort Hood where she became a platoon leader in C Company, 57th Signal Battalion, 3rd Signal Brigade. She later became the Executive Officer for B Company, 57th Signal Battalion, and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom. While deployed, she moved to the S4 (logistics officer) position within the Battalion. After redeploying, she was selected as a Company Commander and took command of B Company, 57th Signal Battalion. She was then deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and attached to the 82nd Airborne Division HQ at Bagram Air Field. Upon returning, MAJ Watts was sent to the Signal Captain's Career Course, then stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ where she served as the Assistant Secretary to the General Staff at NETCOM Headquarters. She attended the Acquisition Basic Course in 2012, and then returned to Fort Huachuca to serve as an Automation Systems Engineer in Information Systems Engineering Command (ISEC). After her time there, she moved to Fort Hood, TX and served as a Test Officer in Operational Test Command, and was later selected to participate in the Advanced Civil Schooling (ACS) program to pursue her MBA. She moved to Huntsville, AL to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she graduated with her degree in May 2017. She was assigned to Program Executive Office (PEO) Aviation in July 2017 to work as the Assistant Product Manager (APM) for the Enhanced Medium Altitude Reconnaissance & Surveillance System (EMARSS) aircraft program in PEO Aviation's Fixed Wing directorate, and was transitioned in May of 2018 to PM Aviation Systems to work as the APM for the Army Tactical Communications Systems. After her time in PEO Aviation, MAJ Watts was reassigned to the Missile Defense Agency in July 2019 to serve as the APM for the AN/TPY-2 radar (THAAD radar), where she currently works today.
MAJ Watts' awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC), Meritorious Service Medal with 1 OLC, Army Commendation Medal with 2 OLC, Army Achievement Medal with 2 OLC, and the Meritorious Unit Crest. She attended Signal Officer's Basic Course in 2004, Signal Captain's Career Course in 2010, the Army Acquisition Basic Course in 2012, and the Command and General Staff College in 2014.
MAJ Adrian Watts is married to LTC Chad Watts, and they have two children; Hunter, 6, and Hadley, 4. Together, their family enjoys traveling, sports and fitness activities, and enjoys the outdoors.

We hope to see everyone on Tuesday.  It is going to be Amazing!!

Bottlecaps

HCES is collecting plastic bottle caps again this year.  The good news is that we no longer have to COUNT them!  The bottle caps are weighed, which makes it so much easier to track collections and participate in collection contests.  So please save your plastic lids, WASH them and send them to school!  We have collection bins in the lobby, your student can simply drop them off on the way to class, or you can bring them up to school and drop them off anytime.

Silent Auction

Our Auction will kick off on FRIDAY!  We will be adding items throughout the week to the facebook page for the auction, however no bidding will be allowed until the auction officially opens.  The auction will OPEN at 4 pm on Friday, November 15 and will CLOSE at exactly 4 pm on Saturday, November 16.   Check it out HERE!

Cove Universal Playground

The Cove Universal Playground is hosting a spirit night at Buena Vista Mexican Restaurant next Wednesday evening (Nov 13) to support the purchase of playground equipment. We will receive 15% of food purchases, and will be there selling t-shirts and bricks. All funds will go to the purchase of equipment.

Library Volunteers for November

The sign up for November library volunteers is up. Most important are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings, since our library aide isn't there those days.  Volunteers scan the books out to the students, check books in and shelve the books as time permits.  Please consider working a shift in our library.
Please note - if you can only work a portion of the shift listed, that is ok.  We appreciate all the help we can get!
