President's Note
The Book Fair is done, dude!

We had five solid days of happy shoppers picking out books and erasers and pointer-finger pointers and more books. Let me tell you something about book fair volunteers: they are master negotiators (with very determined little shoppers not interested in other ideas), are able to divert (to better book choices) and deflect (away from the extras table) with the best of them, and come in under budget every single time. If you need employees, THESE are the people you should try to hire. (But please give them time off in February to help with the next Book Fair. OK? Glad we worked that out.) Scroll down to our Volunteer Spotlight to see who these amazing people are.

Don't forget that our Hawk Pride program ends soon. We will be drawing for our Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze level winners. And your students will get to participate in their respective reward days in mid-October.

We have info below about our upcoming Trunk or Treat and the Telescope Viewing Night accompanying it. Make sure to check those sections out.

Lastly, our Reflections Art Program is open for entries. The class with the most entries will win a Pizza Party!

See you guys in car line -
Molli Kirby

It's official . . . HCES kids love to read!

Thank you to all our shoppers and volunteers who supported our book fair and helped make it a huge success. We hope all of our readers have lots of great
books to enjoy and keep them entertained and earning those AR points.

See you at the next fair in February!
Trunk or Treat
We are excited to announce that we will be having an outdoor Trunk or Treat this year!

We need you to participate by hosting a trunk - this is a great opportunity to promote your business or just have fun with friends!

The event will be Friday, October 29th from 5-7pm. We will have food trucks and other exciting surprises there. Sign up to host a trunk today at the following link:
Telescope Viewing Night!
In conjunction with the Trunk or Treat event on October 29th, HCES will host a telescope viewing night to celebrate the upcoming launch of the James Webb Space Telescope.

Several telescope experts will be here with their telescopes to guide students and their families to view objects in our solar system. If it’s a clear night, we should have a wonderful view of Saturn, Jupiter, and our moon on Oct. 29!

The telescopes will be set up in the middle school track area, so after collecting all your goodies from Trunk or Treat, make your way over to the telescopes to see some amazing views from our beautiful solar system!

*If you are a telescope enthusiast and would like to bring your telescope to join in the fun, please contact lori.nelson@hsv-k12.org

Our membership drive ends on September 30th! Drawings for our Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze levels will be held on October 1st. Look for details on October 1st for the student incentives for each level as well!
