SAINT PAUL BLACKHAWKS MONTHLY UPDATE

March 2023

β€Š

Thank you to everybody that came out to our Winter Festival and supported our 2023 Sweden Trip. The food was great, boot soccer was so much fun and Rhodes was our winner of a free summer camp by finding the hidden medallion. Don’t worry, if you missed this amazing event, there are going to be more opportunities for building community through fun activities and/or fundraisers. We look forward to seeing you at the next event. We are a great club because of you and your support! We are so grateful for you.

Mark Your Calendar For This Month's Happy Hour!

Shout out to everyone who came out to last month's happy hour at the Bad Weather Brewing Company! Let's carry on the fun over to the Arbeiter Brewing Company (3038 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406) for this month's happy hour. On Thursday, March 23rd from 6pm-8pm, join a few board members and other Blackhawk parents for a nice and relaxed Thursday evening!

Remember to mark those calendars!

Blackhawk Committee and Task Force Interest

Your help is needed. We rely on our volunteers and one of the ways to get involved is through our Committees and/or Task Forces.

Click here to see where you might be able to best help our club out.

Even if you are not interested or able to participate in any of our existing committees or task forces, let us know how you are interested in helping.

There are so many amazing members in our community, maybe you are connected to a business that could benefit the club, maybe you have an hour a week that you could dedicate to helping out right from the comfort of your own home. There is no β€œcorrect” way to help out, many hands make light work.

Thank you for all that you do in helping Blackhawks be the best we can be.

MEET COACH

Fernando Jimenez!

Coach Fernando started coaching for the St. Paul Blackhawks in the fall of 2020. He currently is in charge of the player development of the 2009 and 2008 gold teams. In the past and for the last 21 years, he worked with the Minnesota Thunder Academy/Wings Soccer Club. While working for these clubs, he was in charge of the technical area and team management.

Q & A

HawkNews: Where did you play soccer growing up?

Coach Fernando: I started playing soccer when I was five years old in the street and in the Acapulco beaches near my home. As a got older, I played at the University of Guadalajara Mexico. In Minneapolis, I played with the International FC.

HN: What is your favorite soccer team and why?

CF: My favorite professional team is Barcelona from Spain. I enjoy watching their style of play, a possession style called Tiki-taka. The initial objective of Tiki-Taka is to maintain possession of the ball until an attacking opportunity presents itself. Barcelona players can move the ball up the field aggressively with crisp, short passes through a number of channels, playing "keep away" all the while.

HN: What do you love about coaching Blackhawks?

CF: Diversity. The St. Paul Blackhawks Soccer Club has the most diverse soccer players and coaches in the Twin Cities.
