Calling all students! The 2025 Holiday Clearing House is fast approaching, and People in Need looks forward to your volunteerism on Youth and Community Service Day, Sat., Dec. 6. We need your help decorating the Delaware County Fair Coliseum and making it a winter wonderland for our clients! We need your creativity, friendship, and fun! (This is our only holiday volunteer opportunity for kids under 15.)

This is the 71^st annual HCH and the largest event to date. Clubs, organizations, student groups, high school sports teams, and scout troops - you can sign up below!

Every Doctor/Dentist note matters! Remember to always turn in an excuse for your doctor/dentist/orthodontist/court for any time missed from school due to those appointments. An official note from your provider will change the absence code for that period of time, which will help your student's attendance record! 

Forgot to turn one in? We can accept notes for prior appointments all the way back to the first day of school 8/13/25, and notes will be accepted through the last day of school 5/27/26. Your medical/dental office will often fax the note over for you if you give them a call. The three ways to turn in an excuse:

1. Turn in note in person to the Hayes Welcome Center (front office)
2. Fax to 740-833-1099
3. Email a copy to: russelro@delawarecityschools.net or hs_attendance@delawarecityschools.net

Seniors should be working on scholarship applications over the next couple of months. All scholarships are posted in SchooLinks. Students should login with their Hayes Google Login or Clever Login. Once in SchooLinks, click on the College icon and then Scholarship Matching.

The Hayes Local Scholarships will be due February 27, 2026 by 3 PM to Ms. Pollard in the Counseling Office. (Just click on the scholarship name to download the application.)

The Delaware County Foundation will be posting their scholarships on January 1st.

ASVAB

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test, the FREE military entrance exam and career assessment (a great opportunity for non-military bound students too!), will be administered on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Hayes High School. (This is a make-up semester exam period.) The test is open to students in grades 10, 11, 12. Click HERE to sign up. (Please see the registration form about how this test can be used towards the Honors Diploma.)
