STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

The winter cold and flu season is upon us!

At this time, we are seeing increased flu-like illnesses in our schools. To keep your student and the other students/staff in our school community healthy and ready to learn, the district would like to share these general guidelines as cold and flu season persists. Please stress with your student the importance of good hand washing and covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. If your child has not received the flu vaccination, it is not too late. Please consult your student’s healthcare provider to see if the flu vaccine is right for your child.

Keeping your child home when he or she is sick is one of the key ways to prevent the spread of illnesses.

Seniors should be working on scholarship applications over the next couple of months. All scholarships are posted in SchooLinks. Students should login with their Hayes Google Login or Clever Login. Once in SchooLinks, click on the College icon and then Scholarship Matching.

The Hayes Local Scholarships will be due February 27, 2026 by 3 PM to Ms. Pollard in the Counseling Office. (Just click on the scholarship name to download the application.)

The Delaware County Foundation will be posting their scholarships on January 1st.

Here is a cheat sheet of scholarships resources to help simplify the process.

Students please check the Lost and Found area across from from room 1002. Any items left after 12/17/25 2:30pm will be donated.

Signing In/Out in the Welcome Center

Signing In Late – If your student arrives to school later than their scheduled time, it is very important that they sign in through the Welcome Center (Attendance Office) to have their ID scanned in. They should not walk in the building with other students who are scheduled to arrive at different times during the day. The only doors they should come in are the front entrance of Hayes, and take an immediate right turn to speak with our Attendance Office Staff.

Signing Out Early – When a student is scheduled to sign out early, they must go through the Welcome Center (Attendance Office) and have their id scanned. They should never leave through any other door in the building without officially signing out.

These sign in/out procedures are a critical part of our required attendance reporting as well as the Safety and Security of our building.

DACC will host separate Open House events in December and January for two of its off-site programs: Columbus Zoo & Aquarium School and Equine Science (Wildlife & Resource Management will host visitors at Camp Lazarus during the Dec. 11 Open House event). These additional Open House events will be held on-site for each program (the Zoo School will hold its Open House at the Columbus Zoo; the Equine Science program will hold its Open House at the Delaware County Fairgrounds).
