Chance to comment on crime concerns

Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch are asking local people to spell out their top three crime and anti-social behaviour concerns that need action by the Police. The results will be given to the Borough Safer Neighbourhood Board and help to set policing priorities for the Borough.

Those who live and work in Hayes often feel that their voices are not heard compared to other areas of the Borough. Well this is your chance to say what you think by completing the simple on-line survey. It is open to everybody and it is anonymous. You have three votes and must respond by 30 September at the latest. Click here to find out more.

Great Barn
Invitation to the Great Barn - 20/21 September

Open House London is an annual opportunity to get into some amazing buildings and spaces that you might not otherwise see, It will take place this year on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September and there are some fascinating places to visit close to Hayes. The Great Barn in Harmondsworth is a spectacular building and it will be open on both days between 10am and 5pm. On the Sunday there will be special events including horse-drawn farm machines, horse-shoeing and Morris dancing. The Barn is located in Manor Court at the far end of the High Street in Harmondsworth and the post code is UB7 0AQ.

And to Cranford Park & St Dunstan's

Also as part of Open House London the stables and the secret garden at Cranford Park will be open for visits along with the magnificent St Dunstan's Church (pictured). On Saturday 21st opening hours will be 10 30am to 4 30pm and on Sunday 22nd from 11 30am to 4 30pm (the church from 12 30pm ). Click here for the location.
Lake Farm
Help clean up Lake Farm - 24 September

To mark National Recycling Week between 23 and 29 September the Friends of Lake Farm and the Council's Green Spaces Team will be organising a community litter pick on Tuesday 24 September between 11am and 1pm. Meet at the Lake Farm car park in Dawley Road.
Learn about Station progress - 25 September

The September newsletter on progress on the West London Crossrail stations has been published and the December 2020 target for completion is still in place. The CCTV system for driver-only operation has been installed at Hayes and Harlington. Click here to see the newsletter.

A drop-in session for the public to ask questions will be held on Wednesday 25 September between 5pm and 7 30pm at the Hayes and Harlington Community Centre at the North Hyde Road/Albert Road junction opposite the ASDA store.

Find out about Vinyl Square - 26 September

Plans are about to be revealed for another piece of the jigsaw that makes up the Old Vinyl Factory. Joseph Homes are planning to build flats on the empty site in Blyth Road that was recently subject to rubbish-tipping on a mammoth scale. They will be holding a public exhibition on Thursday 26 September from 5 30pm to 8 30pm at the adjacent Global Academy, 1 Record Walk, Blyth Road. Award for Hayes businesswoman

Local business owner and Hayes Town Business Forum member, Minal Patel, has been given the Francesca Kemp award by Small Business Saturday. Each year, the Small Business Saturday team chooses a recipient they feel has gone out of his or her way to support small business. Minal spends much of her time being involved in the local community. Outside of being a Business Forum committee member, she also provides free marketing workshops and advice to Brunel students setting up their own businesses, and hosts events to help small business owners to effectively market their businesses. Costa fined for over-stepping the mark

The new metal studs showing the limits of shop front trading have resulted in fines for Costa Coffee in Station Road. The barriers in front of their tables have been consistently way in front of the stud since its installation and have added to the congestion for pedestrians at this spot caused by the bus stop, cycle lane and phone box. The picture shows that they are now complying. A date for the promised removal of the phone box is still awaited.

Update for rough sleepers count

I have learnt from a reader of Hayes Town News that the Council is about to do another count of rough sleepers in the Borough. If you are aware of any locations where there are rough sleepers in or around Hayes Town Centre please send me an email .

Hayes Business Studios are part of the Hayes campus of Uxbridge College in Coldharbour Lane and they boast excellent facilities for meetings, seminars and training session. Stop press news - Canal Festival cancelled

There were lots of disappointed local families yesterday when the Hayes Canal Festival was suddenly cancelled. This followed the discovery just after 8am of a dead body in the canal under Station Road bridge right by the Festival site. Click here for the media report.
