Getting ready to re-open

The Government's announcement that cafes, restaurants, pubs and hairdressers can re-open from Saturday 4 July has started a flurry of activity as traders prepare. They must carry out risk assessments first and put measures in place to keep customers and staff safe. Guidance has been produced for cafes, restaurants and pubs and the Chairs of the Hayes Town Partnership and the Business Forum will be delivering copies to all relevant premises this week. Click here for more information,

Guidance for hairdressers is still awaited but The Hairdressers in Botwell Lane (pictured) are well ahead of the game. During the lockdown they have had the salon re-fitted to make space for the new set-up that will be required for safe operation and they will be implementing the best practice measures laid down by National Hair and Beauty Federation. To get the latest update on re-opening you can find them on Facebook .

Self-employed are missing out

The Government has introduced some good grant schemes to help businesses survive during the coronavirus lockdown. There is also support for self-employed people and that may help some small businesses in Hayes Town that are not eligible for the grants. Not everybody knows about this. Funding open for employment schemes

SEGRO, the owners and developers of the old Nestles Factory site have a special charity fund with grants of up to £40,000 for projects that will help young and disadvantaged people into work. Speeding cars can be stopped

Reports in earlier editions of Hayes Town News have highlighted problems caused by drivers using local roads as a speed track, especially late at night. The Botwell Safer Neighbourhood Team are asking members of the public to report whenever this is happening. The Police have powers to issue what is called a Section 59 notice to any driver who has used their vehicle in a manner which causes 'alarm, distress or annoyance'. If the same vehicle is reported again the Police have the power to seize it and take it off the road. Click here to make a report.
St Mary's flowers
Flower Festival goes online from 1 July

St Mary the Virgin Church in Church Road has had to cancel its annual Flower Festival because of the pandemic but that has not stopped them and they have set up an online version on Facebook. Flower arrangers have been asked to to create a display which reflects their "Lockdown Challenge" . They have photographed their arrangements at home and the pictures will be placed on the Church's new Facebook page from Wednesday 1 July so that they can share this joyful collection of flower arrangements with the local community. St Mary’s Church has welcomed visitors to its Annual Festival for over 50 years. I have visited and it is absolutely stunning. As well as seeing this year's displays on line they have included pictures from the 2016 Flower Festival “God’s Promise to Noah” so you can view the beautiful church and its usual flower arrangements. You can see all this by searching for 'St Mary The Virgin Hayes Middx Flower Festival' on Facebook and also on 'A Church Near You '.
