If you're like us living in Fayette County, you just received your property tax assessment in the mail. As Fayette County residents, we have until June 21st 2022 to issue an appeal. Hey Coweta County, don't feel left out, your letters will be coming soon. It's unavoidable.
You may or may not know that after the tax assessor places a value on your home, 40% of that value is what is used to calculate taxes (this is true for all of Georgia). If you feel the tax assessor has overvalued your home, you do have the right to appeal. While the process is slightly different and the timing is slightly different in each county, this link explains the process in general for all Georgia property owners.
