Join us for this seminar on basic principles for parenting which prepares children and teens for challenging times.

Whether you are a parent or grandparent of a young child or a teen, you are already aware of our contrary culture that is constantly pushing and pulling at our next generation.  And while statistics show that 85% of our teens are leaving the church upon graduation from high school, many of us still say, "That will never happen to me".

The decisions we make today and how we relate to our kids in this confusing culture can make a difference!   Whether you have a teen who is struggling, a tween who is doing just fine, or a little one that will one day be a teen, this seminar is for you!

Pay online, in the church office, or drop in the offering plate!

This is going to be a great evening!

New Class for Young Marrieds
9:30 AM in Bldg. E.

Discover the book of James: faith that works!

Taught by Brian Cumings

(Open to all, but will mostly be those married 12 years or less.)
Mere words can never express my heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to the Hays Hills Church family for your expressions of love in our time of grief. Your genuine love for Willie and me was quite evident to our family and friends. We know that only because we have received the love of Christ can we love others as ourselves, and your outpouring of love toward us was certainly a testimony of that truth.

Thank you to all who had a part in making the service memorable- what a sweet time! And the meal was beyond anything I could have imagined. One friend commented, "You have great cooks at your church!" I'm still amazed by it all! I'm convinced God will continue to use all that our family and friends experienced on Friday for the glory of God.

Know that your prayers, calls, cards, texts, visits, and meals have truly brought much joy even in the midst of the pain.

I love you sincerely,
Harriet Johnson

CLC News

This week has started off a little chilly outside, which is perfect for what we are learning at the Christian Learning Center!  I would like to introduce you to the teachers of one of our Pre-K classrooms:  Mrs. Amy Williams and Mrs. Amy Daugereau!  These two ladies do a wonderful job teaching the children each week in our Pandas classroom!

This past week the children enjoyed learning about some of God's animals in the Arctic and Antarctic and some amazing facts about them!  The children did an experiment with "blubber" and found out how it keeps the animals warm in the icy cold water!  They also enjoyed ice fishing, playing in an igloo tent, making a snow owl craft, and discovering how ice melts!

We also had a very exciting visit from Pastor Ethan.  He told the story of the paralyzed man who was lowered down on a mat through the roof of the home where Jesus was by his friends to see if Jesus could heal him.  Jesus told the man that his sins were forgiven, and told him to take his mat and go home.  Even at a young age, the children are understanding that only Jesus can perform miracles, and that we should put our trust in Him because He loves us so very much!  It is such a blessing to see the children listening so intently to the Bible stories and singing and praising Jesus, and it shows that you are never too young to learn more about Jesus!

May you be blessed this week!
Student Ministry News

HHSM had an awesome winter retreat! We took 78 students and adults to Great Wolf Lodge for a weekend that was a ton of fun and had awesome Bible teaching and worship! It was so cool to see God work through the lives and relationships of our students throughout the weekend. Thanks to all the adults who gave up their weekend to help us out!

This month at HHSM Wednesday nights we have been studying the importance of missions. We have had the privilege of receiving a video from the Cathey family and we have done a live video chat with Dawa in India. This Wednesday we will video chat with the Strickland's in Indonesia. Our prayer is that our students are encouraged and blessed by the conversation they can have with missionaries who are around the world and that the missionaries would be encouraged and blessed as well. Please pray that God allows the technology to work well as we attempt the live video feed with the Stricklands!

Super Sports 2019 is right around the corner! If you have a child in K-5th grade you should go to BudaSuperSports.com to check out this awesome spring break camp! Our students will be leading instruction in several different sports as well as leading bible studies with the kids at camp throughout the week. It's so cool to see God use our students during this event to reach kids for Jesus!

Discipleship and Education
by David Sweet

Last Sunday in the early service we recognized the Believers class and teacher Ken Rector for the baby classes they have been instrumental in forming recently.  We presented this plate signed by the elders and Chuck Green our Bible Life director.

From the Believers class--just in the past year and a half:
1  We started the 10:45 Walking in Faith class, taught by Jeff Hudgins.  Believers class gave up some core members to form this class, including Jeff's wife, Mitzi.
2  We just started a new 9:30 Young Marrieds class taught by Brian Cumings, with the Believers sending out Brian and Joy.
3  We just started a 9:30 Challenge Men's class taught by Bill Kramer, with the Believers sending out Bill.
4   I forgot to mention Sunday that the Believers class has also given up a member and his wife: Eric and Phyllis Patterson, to be new teacher of Alpha & Omega class at 10:45!
And I know this class has members, like Peta Caldwell, who help with children's Bible Life classes.

With all the sending out they've done, you would think that the Believer's class might have shrunk--but they continue to grow!    Thanks Believers!

Our first Drive Through Prayer of the Spring, will be February 23 10:30 - noon.  Bring the family!

From Pastor Aaron

Lindsay and I spent Thursday through Sunday in Comfort, Texas, with a group of pastors and their wives for a time of equipping and encouragement. Lindsay and I are thankful for you giving us the freedom to attend and for Northeast Houston Baptist Church and Central Baptist in Bryan providing this time of training for us.

I've returned energized and excited about all the Lord is doing among us here at Hays Hills and I hope you feel the same.

We get to celebrate with child dedications this Sunday, February 3rd.

The following Sunday, February 10th, we'll be celebrating the Lord's Supper and promoting our upcoming Women's Retreat April 12th-14th in La Grange. I'm praying the weekend will be used by the Lord to form new friendships between many of our women for their encouragement in life and in faith.

On February 17th, we'll have our next members' meeting where we'll make decisions regarding the next steps to take in providing additional worship space for people to come and hear the good news of Jesus Christ. David Polkinghorn, a representative from Jackson Galloway will be in attendance to make a presentation and answer your questions.

Then, on February 24th, we'll have Mark Gregston with us in our services and leading a parenting conference in the afternoon. If you have children or grandchildren, I encourage you to mark the date on your calendar and register for the event. I believe Mark will provide insight that will enhance your ability to communicate with your children and grandchildren.

And that's just the month of February! We have great reason to rejoice in all the Lord is doing in and through us here at HHBC. May we bring life-changing hope, to an ever-changing people, through the unchanging gospel!
Prayer Updates

Scott & Becky Placke are returning to Tanzania after being stateside to attend to some family matters. Pray for safe travel and for the Lord to fill them with a Spirit-driven strategy and energy to reach the Ngindo people.

The Indian government continues to grow more brash in its persecution of Christians. The current administration has as a published goal the removal of all Christians from the country by 2021. Pray the Lord would unseat those in power who seek to prevent the spread of the gospel. Pray for the Church to be bold in its witness regardless of the outcome of the election.
