It's a great faith-builder for your kids!
What do you know about Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Muslims or New Age beliefs?   Are you able to do more than politely decline their presentation when they come to your door?  How are their beliefs different than the Christian faith?  Come learn about what Jesus warned would arise, and at the same time, sharpen your understanding of the Christian faith.

Student Ministry News
by Greg Burney

We are having an awesome fall at Hays Hills Students! It's been a lot of changes and learning as we go, but it is clear that God is at work bringing many students to Hays Hills to hear about the hope of Jesus! I am so grateful for everyone who has prayed and supported us as we navigate the transition from one ministry to two!

This coming Sunday we have an exciting class fellowship called Video Scavenger Hunt! This event is for both middle and high school students. We will meet at the church at 3:00 pm and each group will head out with their small group to travel around town to try and score as many points as possible by solving riddles and taking on challenges. This event is going to be a blast and will also serve to foster the community within the small groups that we have developed on Wednesday nights.

Oasis '19 is next week! Juniors and Seniors will head out to Galveston beach for a couple of days as we seek to challenge and encourage our older students to take their faith seriously and own the privilege of being leaders within the student ministry. It is going to be so much fun and I am praying God will use the weekend to help foster spiritual growth within our students! There are still a couple of spots left if there are any juniors/seniors that are interested in joining us!

Children's Ministry News
by Ethan Graves

Thank you so much for all the prayer and support that you give to HHCM! God is always blessing Children's Ministry. AWANA has taken off this fall! Our kids have already memorized over a hundred verses collectively. The Lord will do amazing things with His word as he plants it in the kids young hearts. We are seeing kids ask good questions about faith and express an interest in baptism. Currently we have an average of 61 kids in AWANA each week. Our new Cubbies (pre-k) program has been a huge success. We thought 6-8 kids might join the group since it is the first year and we have 12-14 come each week!

Our Fall Family Festival is coming up soon right after the Run for the Hills 5k/10k/Pumpkin Dash on Saturday October 26th ( budarun.com).  We have seen high numbers of registrations for the race and expect to see 250+ people from our community come to the Fall Family Festival. We will have games and snacks like always with the added addition of a classic and muscle car show in the parking lot. You won't want to miss this fun filled morning from 9:30 am to Noon. We are asking for bags of candy to be donated and you can drop those off at the welcome desk or in building C. You can also volunteer to work the games by following this link  tinyurl.com/2019hillsvol.
Discipleship and Education
by David Sweet

Last Saturday night we honored our adult Bible Life teachers and other leaders.  Be sure to let them know of your appreciation for their hard work!

Chuck Green is our adult Bible Life director.  Let him know if you have questions or suggestions.

If you don't have a Bible Life class yet, ask Chuck or myself or any greeter for the options.  This Christian life was designed specifically to be done together and not alone.   We have classes at 8:30, 9:30, 10:45 and noon on Sundays.

Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Muslims and New Age.  Do you know what they believe and how to answer those with questions about them and about Christianity?   The Major Cults class starts this Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm in Bldg. E.  Bill and Kathy Waller will lead this teaching and conversation which will last six weeks.

Here's what's coming up in the first half of 2020 on Sunday afternoons:  1) Five week course "Through the Darkness:  A  Journey with Anxiety, Depression, and Walking in Faith"  This is primarily a video-based course led by Pastor Tommy Nelson (Denton Bible Church) addressing those, like himself, who suffer anxiety, depression etc. and also for those who live with--and love--those who suffer.  Followed by... 2) Five week course: Faithful Personal Finances led by Norman Witcher.

Austin Disaster Relief Network is deploying volunteers to the Beaumont area to help people affected by severe flooding. Contact Rick Coleman, our Disaster Relief Coordinator, for more info:  512-826-6249.  Even if you have not had any training, they would like your help: runners, logistics and general help needed.  If you can go down one day, or more, you are needed.  Also check out ADRN website.  Rick is leaving for a five day deployment this Friday.  Pray!

"Bring your Bible to School Day" is tomorrow--Thursday--October 3.  Remind your kids!

CLC News

We have been having fun and learning at the Christian Learning Center!

This week I would love to introduce you to the two teachers of our Caterpillars classroom, Tasia  Jahns a nd Christy Juszczak!  The children in the Caterpillars classroom were 14-20 months old when we entered the school year, and they have already changed so much in just a month!  They are very curious, love to paint, play, explore, sing, dance and clap!  One of their favorite songs to sing is "Jesus Loves Me".  They are also such great listeners during our chapel time, and they are learning about how much God loves them! This past week they were learning about community helpers in their classroom.  They really enjoyed dressing up and they are enjoying playing with each other and making new friends while at school!

May you be blessed this week!
From Pastor Aaron

Moving Forward with a Capital Campaign

The church voted unanimously to move forward with a capital campaign as we look towards the construction of a new sanctuary and the remodel of Bldg. D to accommodate additional classrooms and offices.

I've been preparing to preach a series on Prayer at the start of 2020 and we will follow that series with our capital campaign from February 9th - March 1st. Be in prayer about how the Lord would have you give to this project for His purposes.

Bringing Life-Changing Hope to the Village of Hope!

Bob & Peta Caldwell, Dale Whittaker, Richard Clay, and I are headed to the Uganda next week.

Peta & Dale will be ministering to the house moms, children, and Tabitha women. Dale will also be working with their medical staff.

Bob & Richard will be leading devotionals with the students and staff on our identity in Christ and our unity as believers. They will also be providing some computer skills training.

I will be training the pastors over the course of two weeks on systemic theology and preaching.

We're thankful for the opportunity we have to serve as Christ's ambassadors and appreciate your prayers.

Opportunity to Assist Iranian Believers

One of our missionary partners is trying to raise funds to help an Iranian family that had to flee Iran and has come to faith in Jesus. Their training is in the creation of digital animations, but they were forced to leave their equipment behind in their flight from Iran. It's estimated that $3,000 would get them up and running again. If you would like to donate towards this need, you can do so by marking IRAN on your giving envelope or check.
