From the team at Health by Design, thank you for your support! We are grateful for you and your continued engagement with active living for all around the state. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Our team member and friend, MacKenzie (Kenzie) Isaac, was elected to the American Rhodes Scholar Class of 2022 over the weekend! If you have worked with Kenzie, you have experienced the enthusiasm, intellect, perspective, and thoughtfulness that she has brought to Health by Design over the past 16 months, first as a Public Ally and then continuing as a contractor leading our tactical urbanism efforts. We’re so thankful for Kenzie and the impact she has made – personally and professionally – on our team, partners, and the community; and we can’t wait to see this next chapter unfold. Read more about her award from Notre Dame or the Rhodes Trust!
NEXT TUESDAY: Join Health by Design and the Indiana Public Health Association for this two-part, virtual introductory series on the What, Why, Where, How, and Who of addressing complex systems change, as we strive to work better together to achieve healthy, equitable, thriving communities.

Now more than ever, leaders and organizations from every sector acknowledge and understand the influence of social determinants of health – economic stability; education; social and community context; public health and healthcare; and neighborhoods, housing, and the built environment – on the health and quality of life of people and places.

Complex community change requires that we shift both our thinking and our doing to realize stronger cross-sector collaboration, build the capacity of people and organizations, maximize and leverage investments, and enhance our collective effectiveness. This series kicks off Tuesday, November 30. Register here!
Presented in partnership with the Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities, the inaugural Indiana Mobility Summit brought together 13 different presenting organizations including advocacy groups, transit agencies, public service agencies, and programs at the state and federal levels.

From the bottom of our hearts, Health by Design staff and our partners thank our attendees, presenters, sponsors, and planning committee for participating in the inaugural Indiana Mobility Summit. Our audience had just as much variety as our cast of presenters, with representatives from service providers, advocacy organizations, and businesses ready to learn and explore this complex subject.

We shared about the importance of mobility options and equitable transportation, how to engage with others in meaningful ways, and exchanged resources with each other to support work around the state.

If you missed the 2021 Indiana Mobility Summit but want to keep in touch about our mobility work coming up in 2022, you can join our interest list at the bottom of the Summit webpage: http://www.healthbydesignonline.org/indianamobilitysummit/
