Welcome to Bike Month_.png

Bike Month begins next week, and we're already planning for Bike to Work Day on May 20! Whether you're totally new to bike commuting or you're a seasoned cyclist looking to share resources to get your friends and colleagues out riding, check out this new video series from Bike Indianapolis and HbD. Throughout the month, we'll share a new video each week to discuss how to start riding to daily destinations if you're brand new to biking.

Health by Design Receives Road to Zero Grant

rtz-highrez.jpg

Health by Design is thrilled to receive a 2022 Community Traffic Safety Grant from the National Safety Council's Road to Zero Coalition. We are one of six organizations to receive an award that will aid us in addressing the troubling rise in roadway fatalities, using the three pillars of the Road to Zero strategy.

Our "Change at the Crossroads of America" project will include a series of activities, falling into the broad categories of research, assessment and data analysis, education and training, public engagement, project implementation and evaluation. These efforts will support statewide education, training and technical assistance on the Safe System approach and safety culture (Indiana Road to Zero Academy), and technical assistance and project implementation in five local communities. Stay tuned for additional updates!

Big News for CICF's Connected Communities Initiative

We're Seeking Contractor Support

If you are interested and available – whether as an individual or through your organization – please contact us at [email protected] to learn more about the roles and responsibilities.

Plan your event for Bike & Roll to School Day!

Bike & Roll to School Day is May 4! If you're planning an event to celebrate, you can spread the word by registering your event. You can also find tools for planning and event ideas on the Walk Bike to School site. Indiana already has a handful of schools hosting events--let's keep them coming and get more students biking and rolling!

You can also reach out to Health by Design for ideas and technical support on implementing a Bike & Roll to School Day. We can't wait to see Indiana students biking and rolling to school on May 4!

Bike to Work Day is May 20. You can use resources from the League of American Bicyclists to plan Bike to Work Day activities and encouragement for your co-workers!

We've updated our Strategic Plan!

In 2018, Health by Design adopted a strategic plan that was a result of more than a year of collaboration from consultants, board members, staff, funders, and coalition members and partners. This 2022-2023 strategic plan builds on the previous plan and that framework with updated mission, vision, organizational goals, and strategies.
