Our team is growing! The Active Transportation Safety Coordinator/Manager position will guide management and implementation of Health by Design’s recently awarded grant through the National Safety Council, Change at the Crossroads of America: Indiana's Road to Zero. This position will also have shared responsibility for the ongoing development, management, administration, and evaluation of Health by Design’s broader active transportation initiatives.

This position will work with coalition partners and stakeholders at the state level and in select communities throughout the state of Indiana. It will require in-state travel and, at times, out of state travel may be necessary for training opportunities. Some evening and weekend hours will be necessary.

Compensation will be $50,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on education and experience. The organization offers excellent benefits. At this time, the position is funded for one-year, but every effort will be made to secure longer-term funding for this position. Download the full position description!

The Indianapolis City-County Council proposed an update to the 2012 Complete Streets Policy on May 2. The proposal was heard in the Rules and Public Policy Committee committee and was sent to the full council with a do-pass recommendation. The final vote is expected on Monday, June 6, at 7 p.m.

Individuals can keep contacting City-County Councillors directly to share your input and to voice your support for continuing to improve implementation of the Complete Streets policy. Please encourage them to further strengthen the equity and public engagement aspects of the proposal!

You can reference and share our updated one-page Policy Update Guide and invite your family, friends, and neighbors to get involved in the advocacy process, as well. Our policy update webpage has additional info and all relevant links.

Thanks to everyone who joined in the Community Conversation, to Kayla Dwyer of the IndyStar for facilitating it, and to the American Heart Association for hosting! You can view the recording online here.
