Too many of us believe the ideal: That our streets and public places were created for everyone. That they are safe and accessible. That people are connected to the places they need to go. That everyone has options for how they travel. As recent events have shown, though, that ideal is not reality. And reality disproportionately harms and kills Black people and other people of color. The US House of Representatives has passed the INVEST in America Act, a five year transportation bill as part of a larger infrastructure package, that included some excellent ‘wins’ for walking and biking. Now, attention shifts to the Senate.

The
Walk Bike Places conference, scheduled to have been here in Indy, will be taking place entirely online, August 4-7.
The program still features a wide range of breakout sessions – including presentations from our HbD team and several coalition partners - at reduced registration fees.
ISDH funding is available through the Youth Adolescent Physical Activity grant, to help increase physical activity among youth 6-17 years old (K-12). This is a great way to support walking and biking to school. Applications are due 7/17; let us know if we can assist!
