Greetings, It’s been quite some time since you last heard from us, but you can be assured that since then, the Health by Design team has been actively advancing efforts at the intersection of the built environment and public health in Indianapolis and throughout the state.

Obviously, the last few weeks have significantly changed day-to-day reality for most of us. The impact of COVID-19 – on active transportation and transit; our collective access, safety and connectivity; and our sense of place and community – won’t be fully known for some time and will likely be as far-reaching and long-lasting as the pandemic itself. Still, we’re choosing to remain optimistic that its lessons will guide a more equitable and healthy future for all and ultimately bring out the best in us .

As you’re well-aware, there have been numerous conference and event postponements and cancellations, and many other partner projects and activities are on-hold for now. There’s still much to share, though, so be sure to check out the opportunities highlighted below. As a reminder, please keep an eye on our social media accounts for more frequent updates.

Partner Opportunities

  • Proposals are being accepted for the Indiana CTSI Community Health Partnerships Trailblazer Award through 6/1. Learn more online here.

  • CityHealth has a new initiative working with small and mid-size cities (under 275,000). Learn more online here.

  • The 2020 County Health Rankings data and state reports were released last week, though with little fanfare, given other priorities among public health partners. This site has always been an invaluable resource, but they continue to expand the data and the analysis of it, allowing even more robust information and guidance for local communities. Be sure to take a look!

  • We were thrilled to have the chance last week to share our work in a webinar, Using a Community Workshop Model to Promote Active Living and Improve Public Health. You can access it here.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can support your efforts:
both those that are ongoing and those that are a direct response
to this current coronavirus pandemic. Best wishes!
