He Satisfies
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his love
and for the miracles, he does for people.
He satisfies the thirsty and fills up the hungry.
Psalms 107:8-9
In the above verses, David is telling us that when our souls are hungry and thirsty, God will satisfy us. Unfortunately, it isn’t always immediate or the way we think it should be. But because we trust Him, we keep coming back to Him, pouring out our hearts and asking Him to fill us up. He always does! And when He fills us, it brings joy to our hearts and PRAISE to our souls!

You see, God has good things in store for us, but we have limited vision. Because of our limited vision, it will appear God has not answered our prayers, but when we allow him to adjust our perspectives, we see that He has answered them in the most creative ways! For example, two families may long for a child. One is blessed with the birth of a son. The other is called to be a youth pastor and grows the group to over 350 students. The young people he leads love him, making him feel like a father too many. So you see, both of their souls were satisfied, and their prayer answered, just in different ways!

Remember Abraham? God promised Abraham that his descendants would be as many as the stars! Now Abraham took this to mean physical children, and since Sarah and Abraham were without children, they were beginning to wonder about this promise. Fortunately, God always meets His children where they are so He blessed them with a son in their old age, named Isaac. However, when God said, Abraham would have many descendants as the stars, God was actually talking about spiritual children who believed God as Abraham believed! God always does what He says. However, often we don’t understand until later, much later what He is up to!

God longs to answer our prayers, but He wants us to be open to the way he might do it. It is hard, but if we let go of wanting things a certain way and open our hearts to the endless possibilities, God will show up and amaze us! God loves to surprise His children and fill our hearts with overflowing joy! If we are willing to trust Him with the outcome, then we will see His greatness.

Often, we are tempted to want things our own way, which can bring much disappointment. However, if we flip it, ask for what we want, believe God is good, and will answer in His own way; He will show up and bring the blessing He offers. When we see the good He has given, our souls will be full of delight because the outcome will be much better and we will experience His miracles because He is good!
