At Four Days Old, Jackson Had Heart Surgery.
But the Real Challenges Were Yet to Come.
When Jackson's mom and dad brought him home from the hospital, he was recovering from heart surgery, had spent more than a month in the ICU, and used a feeding tube.
We finally went home to take care of our child, who just had heart surgery. We'd had nurses and doctors 24/7 for the first month of his life. We had never fed a child through a feeding tube. We had to make sure he was developing the way he should for a kiddo with his diagnosis. I can't imagine attempting to do this without Northwest Center's support.

- Kamille, Jackson's mom
Jackson was born with 22Q Deletion Syndrome. Northwest Center therapists knew exactly how to help.
The moment Jackson's family stepped through their front door, Northwest Center was there to help with critical feeding therapy strategies and the emotional support that was so important during those early days. "It would have been insanely difficult to not have that support," Kamille says now.
Northwest Center was there for Jackson then, and we're still there for him today.

He and his family receive the therapy and support they need despite the restrictions of COVID-19.

You can help us keep providing that support.
Two Years Later, Jackson is Thriving, with the Same Therapist He's Had from the Beginning.
Northwest Center Kids therapist Natalie has worked with with Jackson and his family from the moment he came home, celebrating with them as he reached milestones like eating without a feeding tube (it came out in January). Today, Jackson is practicing saying words and phrases typical for a two-year-old, like "I want juice" and "I love you."

Jackson's Progress Can't Wait

COVID-19 has ended in-home therapy for now, but Jackson continues to expand his vocabulary thanks to weekly video visits.

" Jackson shows her toys and they talk about them," says Kamille. ” Natalie has always been very supportive of our family. None of that has changed."
