"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection

of Jesus Christ from the dead."

-- I Peter 1:3

Dear fellow alumni,

The rising sun has always impressed me. Having grown up in the Great Lake state, I have often seen the sun rise over the water’s edge. I have watched in amazement in the hushed solitude of the morning. It is a wonderful sight to see as the sun bursts forth from the darkness. The sunlight seems to almost whisk its way across the water’s surface, and, at the moment the sunlight meets my face, I feel its gentle touch in the warmth it provides. It fills me with peace and joy! I have a smile on my face and fortitude to take on the new day.

If you have ever experienced a sunrise like this, you may also agree that it is hard not to reflect on its creator. This quickly instills in me a renewed confidence through faith in God above and the assurance of His love. If you’re like me, those times can be best when shared with others. These are also the pictures we are most often ready to share and the scene we are most often eager to describe when we gather with others.

So, here we are, near the end of Holy Week and soon we will celebrate Easter. I invite you to consider this image as the sun rises over Lake Michigan and the CUW campus. May it be a fitting reflection for you this Holy Week. Enjoy… and feel free to share with others. He is Risen, He is Risen indeed, Alleluia!

God's richest blessings to you and your family as you celebrate Easter this weekend.

God’s peace be yours,

Are graduate certificates worth it?

Most agree -- pursing a full master’s degree largely depends on career goals and financial capability. Sometimes these career goals can be met with a much simpler certificate option, which provides advanced education that offers some of the same benefits as graduate degrees. However, certificates require much less financial investment in the long run. To learn more about graduate certificates, click here.
