Dear Parents,

The students have been very busy this week. First, second and fifth graders worked hard on CogAT testing. All of our students gave 100%. Students are continuing to read and take AR tests. Our students have read over 14 million words since the start of school. Our digital students checked out more than a hundred books. Reading twenty minutes nightly helps to improve reading comprehension, so keep reading!
Congratulations to our top three teachers of the year: Kelly Duggan, Trish Auten and Kathy Ward. It is a great honor to be nominated by their peers. The winner will be announced next week, Thursday.
Just a reminder that any student that has symptoms of Covid 19 or has been tested for Covid must stay out of school until the results of the test are negative and have been fever free without medicine for 48 hours. This must also be reported to the school. Please help us keep all students safe by keeping students home when they are sick.
Please join us Tuesday night at 6:30 for the general PTA meeting where the budget will be voted on. This will be a virtual meeting.
Our first School Council meeting will be held October 1 at 6:30. This will also be a virtual meeting. All parents are welcome to attend. There will be a question/answer session at the end for parents. The agenda can be found on our website under School Council.
Have a great weekend.

Thank you to all the students and parents placing books on hold, we are so excited to see so many books being checked out.  Here's more information on placing a hold if you haven't been able to yet.  Pick up for digital learners is Friday 9:15-10:45 am and 1:15-2:30 pm.  In person students will have books delivered as soon as we can pull them.  Thank you for being so supportive of the Media Center!

Due to the volume of holds, we no longer email parents when books are ready for pickup. You can tell by looking under the checkouts in the media catalog account.

It's Your Time to Shine!
Calling all artists, dancers, film producers, musicians, writers, photographers, and special artists! This year's Reflections theme is "I Matter Because..." and here at Head you matter to us! So show us what that means to you. Students from all grades and abilities are encouraged to submit their interpretation of the theme through categories such as visual art, photography, literature, dance choreography, film production, music composition, and special artists. All entries are due to the FRONT OFFICE by OCTOBER 2, 2020. There will be a celebration for all students who enter later in the school year. If you have any questions, please email your Reflections Committee at

Be sure to register with the NEW Box Top app. Choose R.D. Head as your school (friends and family can do it too! Near or far!) and scan your receipts to digitally send your Box Tops in to us. Each Box Top is worth 10ยข for our school. **You may still find the old pink Box Tops on items. When you do, clip the Box Tops from the packages and send them to your child's teacher. The old box tops are still good until their expiration date!**
