MRS. JOHNSON'S NOTES
Dear Parents,

As we get ready for our Thanksgiving break, I often take this time to reflect on things that I am thankful for. I am thankful for our amazing teachers, students and parents. I appreciate your continued support of our school. I am so fortunate to be the principal of such a wonderful school and community.

When we return on Monday, November 30, we have color stable dress-up day. Don't forget to post to the Padlet on eCLASS a picture of you sporting your colors.

Please take time this next week to spend some quality time with family and friends.  Please encourage your child to read over the break. The November reading competition ends on Monday, November 30.

All books are delivered to your home and there are so many to choose from!  New releases that weren't on the last fair are now in stock.

Here is the link with the information, but ordering does not start until 11/30.  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/14Je8qEmlFvm8Iw0RXIJmRHnTh2B9tpT63EUUKBf4QA4/edit?usp=sharing

Don't forget the last day of our November AR challenge will be Monday, November 30th!  Hopefully, you will have plenty of time to take quizzes over the break!  Here's the AR link.  https://global-zone05.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/310783  Remember, your login is your student number and password is mustangs.  It will automatically unlock after about 15 minutes if you get locked out!

Use the SORA app to read online  (link on Media Center page in eclass.)   Since you are reading online you can easily open a tab to take the AR quiz when you are finished.  If you don't know the quiz # you can type the title or google AR book inder to get it.  Thre is also an app for AR book finder.
For those who want more books to read than we can provide at school (like the whole Wimpy Kid series at one time or ALL the Mo Willems books...) You can reserve books from the public library online and they will notify you when they are ready for pickup.  You can even go into some branch locations to pick books in person using social distancing and wearing masks.

With this link you enter the child's student ID number and their password is their birth month and day (ex. 0805.)  From here you can navigate and put books on hold at your closest Gwinnett Public Library.   Just another way to keep reading or supplement what you check out from the school.  Most books have AR so once you finish your book you can

If you have a library card you can reserve books that way as well.

Most books have AR so once you finish your book you can google AR book finder to find the quiz # or just enter the tittle in the AR app.
the https://global-zone05.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/310783  Take AR quizzes here.  This link is also on the student eclass page and can be used from home until 10pm nightly.

Our November challenge ends 11/30 so try to take as many quizzes as you can over the break!  We can't wait to see the top 3 in every grade and overall.

Don't forget that Mrs. Griffith has put many "how to" videos on the Media Center website to help us with every question we might have.
Enjoy your break!
