MRS. JOHNSON'S NOTES
Dear Parents,

We missed having the students in the building this week. We know it is difficult to pivot quickly to digital learning. The staff appreciates all the positive comments and support from parents. Students did a fantastic job this week completing their lessons and logging in to their live lessons!

In-person students who recently checked out a school Chromebook to participate in this week's digital learning (Jan 19-22) should keep the Chromebook at home on Monday, Jan 25 to use for the county planned DLD on Tuesday, Jan 26. Students returning to in-person instruction who borrowed a school Chromebook during this time should return the device to school on Wednesday, Jan 27.

Have a great weekend. Don't forget to read!

AROUND SCHOOL

MEDIA CENTER

Please check your media center account for overdue or late books, put them in your backpack to return to school when we come back!  THEN you can put books on hold.  We aren't pulling books for students with overdue books.  Digital students also need to check for overdue books and have them ready to return on Friday 1/ 29.  There will be pick up for digital learners 1/29 from 9-10:30 am and 1-2:15 pm.  If those times don't work, please email maria.branch@gcpsk12.org.

Our AR challenge for January ends on 1/31.  Don't forget to get your quizzes done!  Can't wait to see the top 3 from every grade!
https://global-zone05.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/310783  Take AR quizzes here.  This link is also on the student eclass page and can be used from home until 10pm nightly.

Putting books on hold through public library:
With this link you enter the child's student ID number and their password is their birth month and day (ex. 0317.)  From here you can navigate and put books on hold at your closest Gwinnett Public Library.   Just another way to keep reading or supplement what you check out from the school.  Most books have AR so once you finish your book you can take a quiz.

If you have a library card you can reserve books that way as well.

Happy Reading!

REPORT CARDS
Report Cards for 1st Semester are now attached to the Student Documents area of ParentVUE (parents access through the Parent Portal) and StudentVUE (students access through the Student Portal).
Starting Jan 19, hard copies of the report card will be mailed to the home address we have on file for your student. Please be on the lookout!

When logged into the Parent Portal, click ParentVUE (Student Information) > then click on Documents

SchoolMessenger
SchoolMessenger is a rapid notification system used to contact families in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) via telephone messages, text messages, and email messages. The district uses the system to communicate information related to districtwide events, including safety alerts and school closings due to inclement weather. Schools also may use the system to communicate general/non-emergency information related to school events and attendance messages via email.
1) Make sure you are signed up for SchoolMessenger notifications by following these directions: https://tinyurl.com/r3nc5nh

2) Verify the accuracy of your contact information in your Parent Portal account. The SchoolMessenger service is based on parent/guardian information that we have on file at the school. https://www.gcpsk12.org/Page/26042
