MRS. JOHNSON'S NOTES
Dear Parents,

Thanks to the parents that joined us for our General PTA meeting on Monday and the School Council meeting on Thursday. The PTA voted to use the money from the Step-it-up fundraiser to purchase Chromebooks for the classrooms. Their goal is to raise $15,000. Please check out our website for information from these two meetings.

Monday is a school holiday to celebrate Martin Luther King. Students will transition to digital learning from Tuesday through Friday. If you need a computer, please go to our webpage and fill out the survey. Once the computer is ready, you will receive an email to come and pick it up. There will be no book pick up next Friday.
Breakfast and Lunch will be provided next week. Breakfast and Lunch are free for all school age children. Parents can come to the school to pick up lunches from 11:00 - 1:00 or the buses will be going to all bus stops to deliver lunches. The buses will begin delivery at 10:45.

Students should plan to log into their eCLASS page at 8:45 for the morning announcements. There will be live and recorded lessons throughout the day. Students are expected to be present for all live lessons. The recorded lessons can be completed at any time. Students are expected to complete all assignments. Please be patient with your teachers, as we have had issues with Zoom this week.

Have a great weekend! Don't forget to read and take AR tests!

AROUND SCHOOL

MEDIA CENTER

Here are some more options for reading!
Use the SORA app to read online  (link on Media Center page in eclass.)   There are also some ebooks on our school catalog and the public library catalog.  Since you are reading online, you can easily open a tab to take the AR quiz when you are finished.  If you don't know the quiz # you can type the title or google AR book finder to get it.  There is also an app for AR book finder.

Please check your media center account for overdue or late books, put them in your backpack to return to school when we come back!  THEN you can put books on hold.  We aren't pulling books for students with overdue books.

With this link you enter the child's student ID number and their password is their birth month and day (ex. 0805.)  From here you can navigate and put books on hold at your closest Gwinnett Public Library.   Just another way to keep reading or supplement what you check out from the school.  Most books have AR so once you finish your book you can take a quiz.

If you have a library card you can reserve books that way as well.

https://global-zone05.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/310783  Take AR quizzes here.  This link is also on the student eclass page and can be used from home until 10pm nightly.

Don't forget that Mrs. Griffith has put many "how to" videos on the Media Center website to help with many of your questions, like how to take an AR quiz, put books on hold, etc.

Your teacher may also have other resources for online books.
Happy Reading!
