Dear Parents,

Congratulations to the following students for placing in this year's PTA Reflections competition. These students will be moving on to the state competition.

Jimmy Zhang - First Place for Fourth- grade literature
Sanaa Williams - First Place for Film Production
Matiwos Haile - Second Place for Film Production
We have enjoyed seeing the students participate in the holiday spirit days. Thanks for posting pictures to the Padlet on our eCLASS page. We will continue with the spirit days next week. I cannot wait to see all the creative ideas! Thank you to all the parents that donated gift cards for our staff Bingo game. The teachers are having fun with this.

If you are still considering a change from digital to in-person learning for the spring semester, you must make that change by Monday afternoon. The school needs time to plan for the additional students that will be coming back to the school. No changes will be allowed after Monday.

Have a great week!

Thank you to all of our Reflections participants, Emilie DeBoer, Matiwos Haile, Aanya Pandey, Sanaa Williams, and Ji (Jimmy) Zhang.  A special congratulations to our Reflections winners who have moved onto the next round of judging! Thank you to all who participated, and we can't wait to see what you all create next year!

Media Center

Remember digital pickup holds need to be placed by 4pm on Wednesdays and any books not picked up on Friday, 12/18 will be checked back in. You will need to replace holds in January when school reopens.
Getting Ready for Winter Break? Here are some more options for reading!
Use the SORA app to read online (link on Media Center page in eclass.)  Since you are reading online, you can easily open a tab to take the AR quiz when you are finished. If you don't know the quiz # you can type the title or google AR book finder to get it. There is also an app for AR book finder.

For those who want more books to read than we can provide at school (like the whole Wimpy Kid series at one time or ALL the Mo Willems books...) You can reserve books from the public library online and they will notify you when they are ready for pickup. You can even go into some branch locations to pick books in person using social distancing and wearing masks.

With this link you enter the child's student ID number and their password is their birth month and day (ex. 0805.) From here you can navigate and put books on hold at your closest Gwinnett Public Library.  Just another way to keep reading or supplement what you check out from the school.

If you have a library card you can reserve books that way as well.

Most books have AR so once you finish your book you can google AR book finder to find the quiz # or just enter the tittle in the AR app.
https://global-zone05.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/310783  Take AR quizzes here.  This link is also on the student eclass page and can be used from home until 10pm nightly.

Our December challenge ends 12/31 so try to take as many quizzes as you can!  We can't wait to see the top 3 in every grade. Any quizzes taken after 1/1/2021 will count for the January challenge.

Don't forget that Mrs. Griffith has put many "how to" videos on the Media Center website to help with many of your questions, like how to take an AR quiz, put books on hold, etc.
