MRS. JOHNSON'S NOTES
Dear Parents,

What a crazy week this was. We appreciate your patience with some of our teachers that were without power, as I know many of you were as well. Any work that students were unable to complete will be done when students return on Monday.

We enjoyed dressing up for Red Ribbon Week. I loved the pictures that were posted to the eCLASS page. Students looked great for picture day on Wednesday!

Students may wear their costumes on Monday, since we were not able to wear them on Friday.

This week, all parents should have received a text from the district with directions on changing the instructional model, in-person or digital, for the second semester. Parents that wish to make this change must do so on the parent portal. The cutoff date to make the change for January is November 15. No changes will be allowed after this point. Please click on the following link for step-by-step directions to make a change. Only those making a change need to take these steps.

Parents, just a reminder to make sure you keep your child at home when they are not feeling well. It is now flu season and we are trying to minimize the spread of viruses. Students must stay home if they have a fever.

Don't forget to exercise your right to vote on Tuesday, November 3. There will be no school on November 3, as some schools are used as polling locations. There will be no digital learning on Tuesday.

Our next School Council meeting will be November 12 at 6:00 via Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent out on November 11 along with a reminder. All parents are welcome to attend. The agenda for the meeting can be found on our web page.

We will have a practice lock-down drill on Monday.  There will be several school police cars on the property.  This is only a drill.

Have a great week! See you Monday!

United Way Campaign
Families, it's time to "Give 5!" United Way is a nonprofit organization that works with almost 1,200 offices throughout the country in a coalition of charitable organizations to pool efforts in fundraising and support. If each family at R.D. Head was to give $5 next week, we will be able to reach our annual fund raising goal. Although $5 is the goal, any donation would be greatly appreciated. Students may bring the money to school or there is an option on MyPaymentsPlus for you to show your support. There will also be a padlet on our website next week for digital students to show their support - What does "giving 5" mean to you?

School Communication
There are several ways that we communicate school news. We encourage parents to sign up for each of these communications to stay connected with what's going on at Head Elementary!

SchoolMessenger
SchoolMessenger is a rapid notification system used to contact families in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) via telephone messages, text messages, and email messages. The district uses the system to communicate information related to districtwide events, including safety alerts and school closings due to inclement weather. Schools also may use the system to communicate general/non-emergency information related to school events and attendance messages via email.

Over the years, Gwinnett students and school communities have benefited from the E-SPLOST which has provided thousands of needed classrooms as well as technology improvements that are essential to teaching and learning.
