Dear Prince Families:
Over the course of its 48-year history, Prince Avenue Christian School has been shaped by faithful men and women whom the Lord has called to serve for a season and then pass the torch to others. Through each transition, the school’s commitment to remaining Christ-centered has endured - due in large part to the character and calling of its leaders. It is within this broader story of faithful service that I write to share an important leadership transition involving Mrs. Becky Callaway.
As Mrs.Callaway concludes her time at Prince, she does so with 43 years of experience in the field of education, having faithfully served students and families across Greene County, Oconee County, and independent Christian schools. She has been a valued member of the Prince community for the past 11 years, and the contributions she has made - particularly to the growth and strengthening of our lower school programs - have been nothing short of exceptional.
At the heart of Mrs. Callaway’s leadership is her personal walk with Christ. Her faith has served as a bedrock for the culture of our lower school, shaping not only academic excellence but also the moral and spiritual formation of our students. Through her example, decision-making, and daily interactions, Mrs. Callaway has had a profound and lasting impact on the character, values, and spiritual tone of our lower school community.
On a personal note, I am deeply thankful for Becky’s influence on my own family. When my wife and I moved to Athens more than 20 years ago with three young children, we interviewed at three private Christian schools. The school we ultimately chose was largely due to the impression Becky made on us during that process. More than two decades later, I remain profoundly grateful for her faithfulness and service to Christian education and her positive impact upon hundreds of families like mine.
Mrs. Callaway will be deeply missed by students, families, and colleagues alike. At the same time, we trust the Lord’s guidance as we begin the process of discerning whom He is calling to fill the lower school principal position for the coming year. I know Becky well, and she will continue to serve our students, families, and faculty with the same diligence, faithfulness, and professionalism that have long defined her leadership through the final day of the school year.
