Hello FVS Community.
I’m pleased to provide an update from the FVS Head of School Search Committee.
Not surprisingly, the special People, Program, and Place of FVS resonated with over 150 applicants. I encourage you to review the Opportunity Statement that was published to provide candidates with a window into FVS and to describe the attributes and experiences we are seeking in our next head of school.
Based on the strong response from impressive candidates, our search firm (DRG Talent Consulting) worked with the Search Committee to accelerate our process. Of the 150 applicants screened by DRG leadership, the Search Committee:
- jointly conducted a detailed review of the top 15 candidate packages;
- conducted interviews with 8 semi-finalists (selected by full Committee vote); and
- provided remaining questions, considerations, and feedback that our FVS Board of Trustees Chair (Greg Osborne) and I used to conduct a second round of interviews with 6 candidates.
I cannot overstate how collaboratively and seriously each committee member has taken this job – with exceptional guidance and advice from DRG along the way. I am so thankful for their time and service to this important and rigorous process.
As a reminder, our committee is comprised of faculty and administrative leaders, current and former trustees, alumni, and boarding and day school parents. Search Committee members and biographies can be found on the Head of School Search Page.
We are in the final stretch. The FVS Head of School Search Committee has confidently aligned on 3 finalist candidates. Our community will now have the opportunity to meet finalists over the next two weeks!
While each candidate is on-site with school faculty and leadership, we will hold one FVS Community Zoom per candidate:
Sept 25th at 1:30 – 2:30 pm MDT
Sept 28th at 9:00 – 10:00 am MDT
October 1st at 9:00 – 10:00 am MDT
Anyone interested in participating should complete this Interest form. You will receive a secure invitation to join the discussions.
Questions should be submitted in advance to Amanda Dedrick. As time on the calls will be limited and we want to provide an equal platform to each candidate, we will designate members of the community to ask all candidates the same (most commonly asked) questions.
Your opinion matters. A community feedback survey will be distributed after each candidate Zoom meeting, and we encourage you to complete it within the allowed 48 hours. Feedback will be compiled and considered by the Search Committee in its final deliberations on which candidate to recommend to our FVS Board of Trustees.
To respect the privacy and confidentiality of the search process, the candidate names will be released to the community with a short biography on the day prior to their campus visit.
We look forward to your participation and input. Thank you in advance for helping us show candidates why Fountain Valley School is such a special community.
