Shalane Flanagan retired this week. Better writers than me have written tomes about her contribution to the sport; as always, I'm more interested in what we aren't talking about.

Right now, we are watching the weather forecast and holding our breath for everyone running Marine Corps. We decided to send this email early to make sure everyone racing tomorrow has what they need, please share the links below with anyone who needs it:
Finally, if you've forgotten how I feel about DNS and DNF,
click here to read why I think these are the most advanced decisions a runner can make. I'm not necessarily advising either in light of the forecast, I'm reminding you that that if you choose either one I will never question your decision.
Race or no race, not running is one of the hardest things a runner will ever do, which is why I spent so much time making sure Runner, Interrupted was exactly right. Pardon me if I'm a bit silent this week as I prepare to attempt my first marathon in 3 years in a body I wasn't sure would ever run without pain again. I have no time expectations; I'm profoundly grateful to be able to consider toe-ing the start line 12 weeks after abdominal surgery.
